Does EC not like anal?

That's the point, and what the OP is asking: it's not true that "there are no rules."

I'd say a rule is "don't put squicky stuff in EC if you want it to find an audience who'll appreciate it." I get that anal sex is not squicky to a lot of people, and I'll readily acknowledge that a bit of assplay that falls short of penetration isn't really squicky at all... but a DP probably is.
I agree, although I would argue that EC isn't a monolith. I would assume that they're the widest and least restrictive group (at least in theory).

The category is simply "straight people have sex"

I honestly feel like the fact that it's a threesome was probably more damning than the fact that it contained anal.

That said, I've never posted in EC, so I am only trying to apply my outsiders experience in a way that might be helpful.

EC is a raw bones "basic" story with no additional kink EC is UPS driver shows up, horny woman answers door, sex ensues with a lo of jokes about big packages....but it seems if the delivery is in the rear we might have an issue.

I guess plain stories have their appeal to some, but its like a bland meal to many and its so easily spiced up.

"But um...my idea is only a UPS guy delivering to a woman, what can I do?"

"Here, young Jedi, hold my iced tea because that's all my stomach can handle these days."

Ups driver is young, the woman is much older-Milf story for mature.
UPS driver is black or the woman Asian-Interracial
Woman is married and husband is at work LW
Husband is home and sees his wife drooling over the UPS guy and invites him in for a threesome-Group sex
UPS driver is female and gets kidnapped-NC
Its a guy in the house-GM and oh, yes there will be delivery in the rear jokes made.
UPS driver peeks into a window and sees a couple having sex and spanks it -E/V
UPS driver is invited in by sexy woman who then kills and devours him-EH

Real stretch...UPS driver's married sister's house is on his route and he stops by every day at lunch and has a nooner with her. I/T

It takes very little to spin the simplest concept into a "niche" category

My one and only foray, thus far, into EC has M-F anal as the climax 🤭 to the story.

Why limit this to UPS? An online marketer could provide different shipping options. Maybe UPS has a longer dong, FedEx is at least a sixty-minute man, Amazon will do anything to make you smile like what's painted on the truck, etc. And this is based only on cis het binary male delivery. The gig economy can have great diversity.

Keep in mind from the “enforcer’s” perspectives, “coupling” means two, and unless there’s someone with two penises, DP makes three people

So in this example, it isn’t only the anal, it’s the multiple people having sex too. I might even say the group sex is more outside the lines than anal, in erotic coupling. A couple can do anal. A threesome isn’t a couple.

Should they loosen up a bit? Yes, definitely. But we in the AH tend to get carried away blaming readers for everything. They have one and a half (to me the anal is only half) reasons to ask “why is this story here?” They’re not entirely without cause. but yeah, still, they should loosen up, sandy baby.

How would anal be received, no pun intended, in Fantasy? My heroine is a succubus prototype, who was built with male parts to please the (straight) man she was assigned to. I've read a lot in the TC category, and there are several succubus stories, but I don't think my story belongs there. The tone and story arc very different from what's there. Plus, it's really a love story, and is about so much more than genitalia and who is doing what to whom. I would certainly use tags for TC and anal, but Fantasy feels right to me for another reason. I have a fertile imagination, and that category allows me to bend reality to suit my ideas.

I personally feel like Fantasy would be the perfect place for that, although I can't say how well it would be received.

I wrote a fantasy story with an female demigoddess who uses a man, and basically pegs him with her inhuman physiology, (here) and many readers said that I should have put it in Fantasy instead of NC/R, considering it's basically only reluctance/coercion.

I never really bother reading stories in T&C, because it contains more stories about real world transexuals and crossdressers, which don't interest me... but I'll read anything in fantasy, because it's safely removed from reality.

Thank you @MediocreAuthor for confirming Fantasy as the optimal choice. I'm experiencing a lot of uncertainty, and choosing the right category was one of my greatest concerns.

I'm a new writer and yet to publish, but I've read enough in AH to prepare myself for a certain amount of backlash and negative comments. I will craft a detailed intro that warns readers about any elements that could be offensive to some. My job is to write a story that's compelling enough that it can allow folks to keep reading in spite of their uneasiness with certain themes. And, I don't just throw readers into a sex scene with a male as the bottom without any context. For example, the characters discuss the stigma that straight men, who enjoy anal play, are "less than." And, unlike so many of the stories in T&C, there is no feminization, quite the opposite, there is empowerment.

As the story unfolds, and the characters mature, I believe that it's going to provide the reader with something that is not only sexually gratifying, but emotionally satisfying as well. I'll have to wait and see how it's received, but that's what I experience as I read it. Subjective, yes, but until I get feedback, that's all I've got to go on.

And, I just read the opening scene from Eldritch Pact, and I'm hooked. What a compelling storyteller you are, this is going to be a fun read. Thank you.

Don't blab on too much though. You can't second guess every Johnny's squick, so why bother? You're going to lose as many readers as you keep if you have disclaimers and squik lists up front.

A "detailed intro" is going to give the story away, surely? Keep your intro short, if you really think it's necessary. I don't think it will make much difference at all.

I didn't mean long, more like a list. I've read comments like: " I didn't know there was going to be "X", I wish you'd warned us". And, you're right, I don't want to blather on, just give an idea of that the story is about, more like a hook, to make them curious. Here in AH, I've also read a lot of comments from authors who check out the intro to decide if they're going to read a story, especially if it's in a category they don't frequent often. Apparently Fantasy is not as heavily read, so I want to take advantage of the intro to pull in that type of readership.
