I was watching TV this evening and saw a ad for the animated Charlie Brown movie and for some odd reason this got me to thinking about why not do a animated movie! Hell who wouldn't want to see Opus and Bill the Cat on the big screen!!?

I am curious if anyone here remembers the comic strip by Berke Breathed?

I loved Opus. I was talking about Steve Dallas to a coworker yesterday. My brother would have a cigarette hanging from his mouth with the ash clinging on. We started to call him Steve because he wouldn't flick the ash off.

One of my all time favorites. Especially Bill but also Steve, and Milo and oh yeah....the Penguin....Opus!!!

Years ago I got a Bill the Cat stuff animal for Christmas and a good sized Opus for my Birthday...... I was going thrugh the attic over the weekend and I found both in one of the boxes I didn't unpack form my move.... Remember Cutter John he was a riot.
I have a comic strip with Steve Callas in it berating a dog laying in the perwinkles naked and he ends up there himself naked :D I will have to dog up that comic on line and post the link it was hilarous!
 
Remember when Bill the Cat had Donald Trumps brain transplanted into his head? I remember one panel had an arrow pointing to his feet and it said "wingtips."

Definitely on of mine. I think I have all his books especially the early strips! It was an odd group of characters with a bunch of odd personalities to bit ! :)

I do seem to remember that one, Got to get my books out agian and thib through them, poel really don't know what they are missing :D

I sure do. I first saw it in my old college newspaper, many moons ago. I have heard they might restart it.
 
Ohhhh yes. I have all the books.

I've been following him .... Looking up what he's doing....

Kind of a strange guy... Reminds me a little of S.King. they. Both were in accidents, went reclusive.
King went back to writing .... Breathed bought a boating magazine... Went off in various directions but I believe he has a site and getting back into what brought him fame and $$$$$

That is good to hear, I would love to see him back at it.... I always thought his characters unique and their personalities well matched to them, they would bring me to stitches some days :D

It seems that is a possibility and now I am goign to have to keep a closer eye out for any news related to it and its author :)
 
First time, I saw/ read a few of his strips, I looked at the name of the person drawing the strip.
Huh .

I thought it was the name of one of the characters, and an inside joke
