How hotdog buns can be sliced for easy opening and yet be baked together so you have to pull them apart? Just wondering.

It's magic.

Same magic they use to get the "Clapper" to shut off the old lady's black and white television in the commercial.

Spooky stuff.

You roll the dough and fold it over to set the crease, let the machine slice 3/4 way down, and it leaves your hinge at the other side of it.

Heat up a sharp knife

Bake them side by side in rows.

I assume you are talking about a standard 8-pack from the grocery store and you are wondering how they can be both sliced open and yet still attached.

The answer is would be sets of four knife blades inserted from the end simultaneously.

Push a fork in it all along the side then when time to open simply pull and it comes apart

Even supermarket bakeries do that.... but its nice when they are joined together, kinda like knot rolls.

I've never worked anywhere that packages rolls and preslices things.

Only restaurants, and hotels.

My dad left out candlestick making... occasionally he used make bread and rolls at home
