preferably free (which is a contradiction in terms probably)

None of the decent ones are free.
None of the free ones are decent.

I used NordVPN for 2 years, had a lot of issues with it.
I switched over to ExpressVPN ($100 per year) and I'm happier than a Vetteman in shit.

ExpressVPN allowed me to download torrents of Game of Thrones without issue.

Plus one license works on laptop, iPhone and iPad. It also has a Chrome extension.

I highly recommend it.

oh and if you do go with ExpressVPN, send me a PM, you and I both get 30 extra days free.

Don't use free VPNs, they make their money by selling your data.

I use Nord. The three year deal will cost you about £82.

What was your problem with Nord? I've found it excellent.

looking like its a paid one then. looking at Nord, express and cyberghost, not sure which yet or if it'll interfere with my less than legit sky digi box (some providers get iffy about VPNs)

I got a cease-n-desist notice from my ISP for downloading a movie torrent VIA NORDVPN.....then I got a sternly worded email from NORD stating that torrenting was against their terms of service. I was like WTF?

Been testing Epic for a few months now. It's a chromium browser with baked in free VPN, when activated (I leave VPN option activated as my default). Happy with it so far.

Weird. Nord has dedicated p2p servers.

I use Mullvad and have think it's great. It's just under a fiver a month and as a sporadic user, that suits me fine.

Free is shit. Trust.zone has been mine for years and they are on the "good"list. That means they don't sell your info.

. . .which you used to set up the fake Vetteman account after he got froggied. That was a nice snag, btw.

Close call! Good thing it was addressed to the IT "department" (of one) so the boss didn't see it.

This. Good VPN and the price is right. I caught it during a sale and paid like 60 bucks for 3 years. No idea how that translates to whatever weird ass currency ya'll use.
No issues with it at all.

You had something else going on. VPN's shouldn't be used with tor (which you probably weren't using to torrent anyway) and shouldn't be paired or anything. It's surprising what can come back to bite you even with a VPN just cuz you did or didn't do some little thing that seemingly has nothing to do with it.
Plus you used your real email for Nord. Dude. 10minute email is a must for all things nefarious.

And don't leave your torrent crap on. When the VPN fails, you'll get a letter.

Oh yeah and you gotta be a dick when it comes to new torrents. Download and GTFO. Make up for it later with older torrents if you feel guilty about it.

I have a few servers. One is constantly hooked up to the VPN, I use that for "fun" and then transfer it to the NAS for Plex.

I have a server I run for everything legit. I have a dedicated laptop for less kosher things and keep it constantly going on a VPN but I've slipped a few times here and there and so am extra careful these days and never leave shit running.
I'd like a server just for clandestine activities but have not been able to justify the cost yet. Soon I think.

I use an old HP that I installed a 250gb SSD on with a 1tb drive for storage. That's all on a separate network. Then I transfer content to the NAS and fix the filenames and add the "posters". My shit is better than Netflix.

It's not cheap,

Doesn't act like cheap either.

Surf the Web Without a Trace.

It takes more than a private Internet browser to go incognito. We’ll make your real IP address disappear so that your online activity can’t be tracked.

Our strict zero-logs policy keeps your identity under wraps. We do not record any of your activity while connected to our apps in order to preserve your civil right to privacy.

Make any Internet Connection Secure.

Putting personal information at risk is the price you pay when using free Wi-Fi. Keep your data under lock and key with our encryption, and we’ll keep hackers, ISPs, and tech-savvy teens out of your connection.

Every facet of our service, including app development and customer support, is managed internally. By removing the middleman, IPVanish is best-equipped to ensure that your information remains protected.

Get Around Censorship Filters.

Online censorship is practiced by universities, employers, and governments all over the place. Break free from your regional restrictions and explore the purest Internet possible.

As the world’s only Top Tier VPN service provider, we personally manage our entire network. IPVanish owns 1,300+ anonymous servers, delivering fast, unrestricted Internet access to every corner of the globe.

Sounds interesting.

(Not a direct quote, but likely accurate.)

And don't leave your torrent crap on. When the VPN fails, your mom will l get a letter.

Sounds awkward.

Agreed. And I was using one of them (although they are extremely slow during US evening hours...go figure)

Vpns, clandestine activities, separate servers, tos breach letters from providers; you guys are really hardcore about your deviant activities.
