Do your piercings/tats have special meaning for you?

Mine do. I kind of have a tradition of sorts, that whenever I have a major change in my life, I get a new mod. It reminds me that no matter what might be going on my life and my body are my own, so I have the ultimate say in what happens to them. For example, when I started school again, I got my ear pierced.

I don't have many mods, mostly my ears, and there are certain piercings I would never get, like facial or genital piercings, so I suppose I'm going to run out of options pretty soon. :)

So what about you guys? Did you do it just because you like the look or do your mods have a special meaning?

My tattoo does.

Stands for "pleasure spiked with pain"

Getting it was also one of the most intense orgasms I ever had without actually being fucked!

I'm sorry, but this thread doesn't appear to be at all about ME. Please explain. LOL

Well, as someone who does "piercings" and other geek effects in his act I have to say that the whole needle thing's appeal (for me) is strictly its provacative nature. Nothing gets a 2am drunken audience's attention faster than pushing a foot long needle through your tongue. (It's a trick, relax.) I've had girls with rings in their noses hide under the table during certain parts of my act. But while they're down there pulling bubblegum out of their hair I know they're fascinated all the same. Self immolation through piercing of the skin probably has a mythic collective unconscious rapture quality that we all respond to. Either that or its just really bitchin'.

Either way a piece of metal shoved through your skin produces the same effect in everyone's psyche that money, muscles or performing miracles on stage does --- it gives you an aura of power in the eyes of the people around you.

The day EVERYONE gets a nipple pierced or a snake tattoo is the day the cool people get out the metal cutters and acid wash and start doing something else provocative, like having their molars replaced with shark teeth or something.

Mine do.... they all contained a considerable amount of pain. Does that count? My threshold for pain is low, I think. I just about passed out when they pierced my tongue.

My tattoos hold meaning. I would never permanantly ink myself if they didn't. Each tattoo marks either a turning point in my life or something I want to commemorate that will be with me forever.

My piercings are just personal preference. I like them. I like how they look and feel and I like to change the jewelry in them to match my mood. I like that if I ever grow out of them I can remove them and they'll just be gone, but I don't think I will be doing that anytime soon.

My tatoo's do, if you join them all together they spell ARSE.

My piercings do, but i haven't had anything big enough for a tat yet, but that will change soon enough. now to find a good pattern

mine do

For as long as I can remember, I've always been known as the 'sweet', 'kind', 'nice', 'cute' one.

I'll be damned if i'm ever sexy or mysterious.

My piercings to me are my own inner rebellion.. nobody sees any of them except for the nose one, and I sure shocked the heck out of a lot of family with that one.

I feel sexy on my own accord, I guess I don't have to hear it from anyone else.

I'm thinking about a tat, and it's something I do want, I'm just not 100% sure that I'll want it there forever though, which is the only thing that's keeping me from it right now.

It would be the mythical Phoenix, to remind me of a time in my life when I met a lot of great people and when I was inspired, and "rose from the ashes" of the past.

For many I've senn posting on this topic, the response centres around the timing of the thing. For me, it was predominately the image I chose. No doubt pictures of my tat are around some where, I'll try and find the link. The symbol on my left shoulder ball is the Rebel Alliance emblem from Star Wars (Eppisode IV: A New Hope in case you wondered.) Not only do I think that is the coolest movie ever, but the Rebel Alliance stood for Truth, Justice and Liberty, and that is even cooler.

I got it for my 26th birthday, at a time I was breaking free from the cramped and uninspiring life I had chosen for myself up to that point, so I suppose timing was sort of related too.

The next one I want to get (the last one was going to be the last, so is the next one,) is an arm band around my right bicept, something tribal, sporting two leaves. One a Silver Fern and one a Maple Leaf, the symbols of the country I was bred in and the one I was born in.

Rambling, sorry

Another beer Juspar?

some of mine do i have one of a cross and a rose vine that reminds me off my dad (he loved growing roses) i wasnt thinking of him when i got it but now that its here it does make me think of him. and on my tribal band i have three gems one for me and the other two for my kids there our birthstones.
