Do you think that is good to write erotica while you are horny or should you address that before you write?

Absolutely. And if I'm not horny when I start, I'd better have become horny before I'm finished, or the writing will have to be redone.

If you didn't start out that way, the writing better have gotten you there. That IS the intent, after all.

I usually have an idea for a story in my head for awhile, so I start writing it before I get horny. However, I get very aroused while writing them. I've also found that I can't take care of said arousal before I'm done because then I'm just not in the proper mindset to finish the story. Must be horny all the way through or it doesn't work.

Do you find that it clouds your ability to think and thus your ability to write? Do you have to proofread after?

No not really. I'll always proofread but being highly aroused doesn't harm my ability to think and write at all...in fact, when I said that taking care of it before I'm done takes me out of the proper mindset, this is what I meant. I can't write a good, steamy sex scene if I'm not extremely turned on. So actually, I write better in that state than I do otherwise, at least when it comes to writing smut.

What everyone else has said! If I'm not horny when I start writing sex, I will be once I get into it-- that's the point, after all.
I can be finicky as hell while I'm writing, too-- go back and change phrases, stop and look up spellings, names or dates, refine the scene-- it's all... foreplay. ;)

If I get so worked up that I have to stop for a session of hand jive, that won't stop my writing. I just get myself going all over again!

Dunno, my intent is to make other people horny.

But I figure if I can't make it work on myself--with the images already there in my mind--it probably won't make the reader horny when transformed into words.

My problem is I try to condition myself to write arond the same time and there are days I dont feel horny. I dont need to sport wood to get my plot across but setting the mood to craft the scene can take some work depending. Sometimes I have to pop in a dvd or cue up certain songs to rattle my memory chest. One of better works came after tequila and girl watching at a ufc pay-per-view.

Occasionally I'm horny when I start writing. The writing usually cures that; I get too caught up in figuring out the right descriptions and wording to stay horny for long. For the same reason, I almost never get horny while I write. My brain's occupied with the act of writing, the mechanics and so on, not so much the content.

When I read the story after I've written it, that's when I get horny. Which is why I usually have to edit more than once.

You forgot option three - not necessarily horny when I start, but I am by the time I'm finished.

none of the above. I'm more caught up in the story part of it.

I feel what my characters feel. So horny does feature along with heart broken, tired, ratty, scared, upset, happy, in love, romantic etc etc etc. I don't have to be any of these emotions before i write, they all happen as I go along.

see I need a different option...I am always horny so I always write when I'm horny! :D If its boring writing it lowers it some but it still there.

I dont need to be shot and bleeding to write about a bullet wound. I dont need to be in the hospital to write about it. Or starving. Or scared shitless. I dont need to kill someone to write about an old experience.

It is imperative that you have experience of what you write, but I dont think it has to be simultaneous.

Yes, I always write while aroused. The writing arouses me. The fantasies arouse me. The memories....
