Do you think you are unique? Really? How much?

i am simply musing...

we spend a great deal of time celebrating our individuality. yes, each of us is unique.. well ... maybe? really? I suppose one could argue that at some point in the sequences of nucleotides I can truly argue "I am different..." And I could argue that no one has lived my life, seen the world through my eyes... lived my experiences... or could I?

i have often been one to say that we all want the same thing, but that we sometimes have different ways of trying to get it.

the smile is universal. a laugh indicates delight.
and all of us knows the face of fear.

where is the uniqueness? (any Kundera fans out there? remember Immortality?)

most psychiatrists and analysts will tell you that when people's minds crack, they break along predictable lines

sometimes i feel so, for lack of a better word, anonymous in a world of six billion... where am I unique?

(laughing: i clutch the steering wheel as i drive to work thinking.. "i'm not just another 30something white guy... i'm not just another 30something white guy...)

For all that we find in individuality, our beloved cult of personality, its nice to know that we can both hear the music and tap our feet in unison... its nice to know that you can understand my friendly smile. its nice to know that if i am hurt and scared, that you understand what that feels like.

what is so great about being unique?

(well, it is worth saying that if were all the same, all we might say to each other is "iknowwhatchamean... iknowwhatchamean..) (damn, but who says that isn't what we aren't already saying....)

Double post..load aim & fire.

Mustang..We are all different, that makes us all the same.

Sure, I'm unique. Just like everyone else.

of course you are sugar...

forgive me for suggesting otherwise....

Six billion people...

That means when someone says I'm one in a million, they're implying there are six thousand more just like me.

Bastards.

unique?

does thinking I'm special equate with thinking I'm unique?

I get caught up in the same type of smothering chaotic feelings sometimes about the magnitute of people and our lack of individualism.. or rather how our individualism is insignificant... petty almost.

I think uniqueness in people is sometimes manifested in eccentricities. People refuse to see qualities outside the mainstream of society as productive... don't you think? They tend to just shake their heads and walk away muttering.. "crazy bastard" under their breath. hehe

I do believe I'm special for some of the reasons you said.. my experiences, my perspective on life.. my tendency to be empathetic and fair, open minded and embracing all methods of thought and reasoning for fear of discounting the important ones.

I am, however, just another 30ish white single mom. *s*

I have a crooked hardon--makes women cum 10 times real fast and then have the "big one"! Their toes curl up and the wax runs out of their ears!

your reply is the definition of wit... as opposed to humor.

wit is so vastly superior... (i have only a little and therefore admire it)

Ah, not as unique as you may think! A dear friend of mine has what can only be described as a severe left hook when he is hard. He says he can "fuck around a corner" with it and doesn't really care for it. I think it is cute and somewhat "unique." In this case, my opinion matters more. :D

I sometimes get the feeling that there is nothing new left to do or think or be. It's all been done by now. Isn't that why 'retro' is so big? Nostalgia? Nah. We ran out of new ideas, so let's just recycle old ones.

But it doesn't really matter, here in my own little world, that it's all been done before. It's never been done by ME. The thoughts and experiences are exciting and new to me.

It's all in the way you look at things.

I am unique ....

Some entity save us if there are more like me out there *shudder*

A friend and I we're talking just the other day on this subject. He and I are extremely successful in our chosen professions and have become bored. We go home to the same houses, eat the same foods, take the same afternoon nap, watch the same tv, log on to the same places online, go to the same beds, get up and do the same thing tomorrow. Except for brief bursts of excitement, like bomb threats, there is no intrigue, suprise, or excitement left. Maybe that explains the whole D&D thing or fantasy novels. I can get lost pretending to be a gallant knight saving the kingdom from certain destruction.

Oh, well. Now it's time for me to hit the same "submit reply" button.

Hey, Merlin. You need a new title, dear. You've passed your 1,000th post milestone! Still thinking?

Of course I'm unique! When they made me they broke the mold!

Now, whether it was because perfection was achieved or out of fear of making another one we'll never know shall we? ;)

I've never met anyone quite like me before. Other people look like me, including this drag queen in Baltimore, but they aren't like me at all. I'm me and no one else is :)
