Do you think the Iraqi soldiers have forgotten about Desert Storm?

Of course we hear now that many Iraqi units are prepared to give up already...I wonder how true that is, I guess we'll find out soon enough.

But if you were an Iraq soldier and 'fought' in desert storm, and remembered seeing all your comrades obliterated just how confident would you be now?

Seriously, what do you think the mindset of the Iraqi soldier would be at this time?

I hardly think they've advanced enough to think they'll win.

Of course they'll be strapping 10 civilians to the front of each tank and 5 to each jeep.

Just because they don’t think they’ll win doesn’t mean they won’t fight. Maybe remembering Desert Storm will make them want to fight even more and if someone figures they’re going to die already they’re not going to really think about they’re safety when trying to get at the enemy.

Very true, there are early indications that many Iraqi units will step aside, surrender and allow our forces to proceed north. The Republican Guard is positioned in the north around Bagdad and the oil fields and unless obliterated, will put up resistance.

The Americans don't have much experience with street fighting.

Ha! Didn't you ever see Rocky V ( I think it was that one ). Rocky grew up being a street fighter. /end hijack

Anyways, I believe the majority of the army is scared witless, and they do remember what happened before. Saddam will be most desperate this time. This time, he knows what the end result will be. He will be at the backs of all the soldiers that he can be, whipping their butts back to the line.
If Saddam gets killed somehow, the army will fold. They might just do it for us, you never know.
