I often can't help myself when such subjects come up, yet I think the next job I get I am going to just keep my mouth completely shut on any topic that is not directly work related - or at least on controversial subjects such as politics and religion. I have more than once experienced discrimination in the workplace due to my views on various subjects.

Ooops! Sorry! I meant to add an Other option but I clicked on the wrong button.

Nope, I work with a big group of people whose political and religious beliefs are vastly different than my own. Zipped lips, all the way.

Yup, and fuck em if they can't take it. I do usually wait until they bring it up though.

I am going to try not to anymore. I have found that most people just can't be professional about coworkers when they discover that they hold views contrary to their own. I had one guy who tried to get me fired, others who spread rumors about me.

Then there is the thing about guns; I swear when I got laid off from my last job I think some people there were afraid I would go postal and shoot everybody just because I owned guns. Actually I was probably the happiest guy in the place because I would get the summer off to go riding.

Used to---luckily I was working nightshift in Boulder, in a semi-skilled but also laborious tech industry job with no cubicles. Boulder is one of the few places I've felt politically and theologically mainstream---work was almost fun. I probably went overboard in expressing my views but that should not be a surprise.

Next position was a similar one in Fort Worth---I spoke to no one---I took no lunchbreak so I wouldn't have to speak to anyone. Ventura has a point---maybe states' rights could be further permitted---just make sure you agree with the state you live in. Texas isn't that state.

Last time I talked religion at work was when I told them "To go to hell."

Too bad at the time I didn't realize we were already working there.

Nope. We've got better things to talk about.

I pity the fool who starts a political conversation with the kids I work with.

I am lucky most of my public jopb has me talking with the public and my employees about politics and religions as a way to keep them near the product longer for a higher chance of sale .

it generally works, as most of my demos have been complete sellouts, genereally with a starting stock over over 50 to begin with

plus i get to throw out my wierd and wild political and religious conspiracies

Don't talk religion at the office and only seldom is the political subject crossed. It may have something to do with the fact that we are all pretty much in the same political field.

I have the pleasant misfortune of working in one of those fields where only kneejerk liberalism is considered sane.

Fuck 'em! They can lay me off if they....

Oh wait, they did lay me off! Shit! Yup, I pick and choose who I discuss politics with, especially in the no tolerance, hate filled, liberal environment! In there, I could say "hello", and get accused of trying to establish my male dominance in the work area! :D

I don't think it makes any difference what the environment is, liberal or conservative, it doesn't matter- at least as far as my opinions go; there is always somebody around that doesn't like what I say and is willing to act on it.
