I agree with you that a national bill is a losing issue. Best to leave it to the states. I also agree with Vance’s statement, which aligns with the views of most Americans, that 15 weeks is reasonable.

The pandemic was a national (and world wide) emergency, much like war or other natural disasters. With the novelty of COVID19 we had no idea how deadly or communicable it would become. What we did know is that it was killing a lot of people and it was spreading quickly. It's a matter of luck and borne out only by experience that it did not mutate toward a much more deadly condition.

Imagine how different the world would be now if COVID19 had a 10% mortality rate.

When was anyone certain, not a hunch, not hubris... when was anyone certain that it was not going to be worse than it was?

The government response was one of excessive caution, not one of derelict inaction. What response would you want the next time a novel worldwide pathogen starts killing millions? Are you pro-life for society in general, or only for fetuses?

and, once again, the statistics show pregnant women who took the vaccine had more healthy pregnancies leading to full-term, safe births (even if they got covid) than those who caught covid and hadn't had the vaccine. Covid led to an increased rate of pre-term births, still births, difficult births, miscarriages and health problems for both mother and baby.
