Just a question, as I start to read over my lecture notes for class. Does anyone have a preference for reading stuff.

Let me elaberate.

Do you mind reading stuff on the internet or do you rather hold it in your hands.

Examples:

Newspaper: Would you ever go to your local news paper site to read the paper? Or would you prefer to just pick up the local paper?

Lecture Notes: Would you print them off or just read them online?

Ebooks: Would you go pick the book up at a local book store or would you read it online if you had the chance?

It makes no difference to me if i'm reading online or if i have hte printed form infront of me. Other then the computer holds alot more distractions then if i had the notes in a text book to read.

But either way.

Just curious.

ANyone care to tell me what they think?

I have a strong preference for non-electronic reading materials. I've never been comfortable at all with e-books. Lecture notes would get printed out.

News is a little different for me. I find the sheer quantity online to be pleasurable. I have a problem with newsink, so the lack of that is good for me. I still take the daily paper and read it, however.

i prefer to have something i can hold . i dont mind reading on the internet as long as its not for log periods of time. my eyes start to hurt. i almost always have to have a book though. newpapers and research materials are fine on the internet. If there is a new book out that i want to read though i gotta have a physical copy.

I prefer something I can hold in my hands, something I can easily adjust for comfort.

I prefer writing my notes because I'm better at remembering things I've written myself. I can still remember some details of e-mails I've written six years ago.

Ditto. I guess writing the notes myself reinforces the information in my brain. I recall it much easier than just reading.

you are both (TB4P & Cleo) probably correct in this.

but damn it..it's so easy just to sit back and listen when the teacher only lectures off the slides he has and then postes all the slides on the net.

And UML sux...so i rather re-read and make notes in the book. HI-LIGHTER all the way.

But i can also read anyhting off of any sort of medium with out a care in the world.

I'm a pretty voracious reader. The medium doesn't matter much to me. I found Literotica looking for online zines to read from work.

I don't much care for being read to, however.

I myself prefer holding stuff when reading it. Reading on the computer is just so different because I have spent so much time having what I am reading in my hands.

For an old fart, I'm really comfortable with computers- I would prefer to have my lecture notes in a downloadable form, where I can add what I like right to the notes provided. Take my laptop right into class and type notes as the prof speaks.
