I heard about this site the other day and when I went to check it out, a few things occurred to me and I wanted to get your opinions.

Now, I realize several people have posted their pictures here but I think the situations are totally different. Readers of Literotica are generally smart, independent, sexually-oriented, free thinkers with open minds. (on average!)
However, I think this other site is going for a different audience.

My questions are:
What kind of person or personality would post their picture at this other site?

I figure it is someone with either a really healthy ego or someone who is deliberately setting themselves up to be flamed (or doesn't mind if they are flamed). What do you think?

(Simple explanation for that site = Allows people to rate photographs of others using a 1 to 10 scale. You can choose to look at either women, men or both. But you must vote before the site takes you to the next pic. Then, that one you just voted on appears in the upper left hand corner and shows how others voted compared to you)

No big surprise to see that shots of cleavage do better than others! LOL I think the beefcake shots also fare better than just Average Joes too.

Since this is one of the 'hottest' or most frequently visited sites during the past 2 months, I am surprised that they don't have a better screening process. (meaning a way to avoid fraud) Apparently even with a host, some false submissions have gotten through. The Sec'y of State of Florida Katherine Harris being one. But their bulletin board also hints that some people apparently have submitted pics of their friends or enemies or co-workers without their knowledge or consent.

Legal issues and ethics of that aside, would you submit your own picture? Let it all hang out, so to speak, for the entire world to be able to see you and vote or comment on your appearance? Could you walk the gauntlet of people holding rating cards as you walked on past?

Why? I'm curious, I'm way curious. What do you look like? That's what I always want to know. But, but, but.....

Do I want to show myself? Difficult answer. Simply yes. Complicated thinking about it.... no.

People who post themselves, their pics, why? Right? Some, egos play big into it - they may be hot, they may "think" they're hot (Hey Latina......) Who knows, maybe their husbands are posting their wives pics without the wives knowledge - who knows - vice versa even.

Racy pics? No face, just naked flesh? Probably safer but, but, but.... doesn't really tell you much. Faces only? I've seen a lot - mostly nice looking "average" faces - nothing to right home about.

I would only "trade" facial pics. Everybody sex organs look relatively the same. Tit for tat????

but that contest thing doesn't really interest me... either as a contestant or a voter... it is a little amusing though!

What kind of person would post there? Someone who is curious what others really think about them, maybe.

Would I submit my own picture? Face- nope. My face pic only goes to people I get to know and trust. This site you are talking about seems to be just pictures of normal people, face and all. No real "porn" shots. By this age, I have a pretty good idea of what people think of me and I don't need strangers on the Internet to tell me what they think.

As for body parts pictures, my theory is "parts are parts." With variations as to size, shape and hair/lack of hair, we all look pretty much the same once we are naked.
It is the face that personalizes a pic. All other views don't really matter to me, hence the reason you can see me at Lit.

I checked it out because I'm one of those people who have submitted pics here. I have files FULL of wonderful e-mail messages that make me feel good whenever I read them. They're better than Prozac
That said, being judged is perhaps my worst nightmare. That's why I rarely post on this board. I can't take rejection. My new worst nightmare is now looking through this site and finding my pics -- with negative numbers! Excuse me while I go find a deep hole to crawl into...

I wouldn't on that site, not because of my opinion of myself, but I have a feeling many people there vote just to be nasty. Every single vote I place was higher than the average received. Why waste my time?

I have a pretty good grip on my appearance and being my own worst critic, I know what rating I would give myself.

I noticed the exact same thing. I don't think I was being particularly charitable in my votes, yet mine were consistently higher than the average given for each pic. The picture quality had a lot to do with it, though... a lot of the women who you could tell were beautiful but whose pics were small or not quite in focus got fairly low ratings. The amount of skin shown also seems to correlate pretty well with one's score.

Fun site, though.

First of all let me say this. People post their pics on sites through out the web for reasons mostly known to them and them only. If a person wishes to do so then that is their own doing. Voting for pictures on websites not only draws hits to the site, but makes the web surfer who finds out about voting that much more curious about the site. Probably not. We tend to think of "sexy pics with not faces" as not very sexy. And naked pics with faces - a pretty big security risk.

Would I post on that site, when I was younger I probably would have, making money with my body was what I did then so at that time I was comfortable with what I had. And NO, I wasn't a whore, thank you very much, just a dancer...you people and your minds.....lol

Now though, why would I put myself through all that, I see what I'm lacking everyday without someone else voting on it.

I've been surfing this site for a little while tonight and I agree with Kitten. People who have a healthy sense of self-confidence don't need to get feedback unless they are just narcissistic and crave the attention.

I also agree that some of the pics were probably posted without the person's knowledge. Privacy rights and the Internet, it's on the cusp.

I have no doubt about my narcissism...and I do enjoy the feedback. It is an ego trip and it does point up a very low self image. It has led to other problems for me that I will not go into here. Suffice it to say it is like a drug. A harmless one though....if it makes them feel good then I say go for it. There are photos right here in the amateur section from people seeking attention...

I think I have said enough here...maybe too much..
