Food for holidays ?

In my house we do.

New Years Eve : black eyes peas and ham, mashed potatos, corn bread and cheese cake

Easter : Ham, lasagna, lemon cake, deviled eggs ( after the egg hunt ) green beans, mac and cheese

July 4th : a clam boil, corn on the cob, BBQ chicken and meat, salads, apple pie, cake

Thanksgiving : Turkey, ( of course ) stuffing, ham, stuffed pasta shells, mashed potatos, corn, peas, pumpkin pie, squash

Christmas : same as Thanksgiving just about

And now for St Patricks Day we have corned beef and cabbage for some reason.

On Chrismas day we tend to pig out on seafood, prawns, crabs, fish etc. Its hot here then so we rarely bother with the roast that some other families favour.

Here in my house, no. Back at my mother's, most definitely... I always go home for Christmas & New Year's, so I get to enjoy...

New Year's Day: lobster, filet mignon, and LOTS of wine

Christmas: turkey, ham, scalloped potatoes, salad, stuffing, potatoes, green beans, corn, cranberry-orange relish... I'm sure I'm forgetting something... oh! and this layered strawberry Jello salad thing, with sour cream in it, that's absolutely heavenly.

when i was a kid

Christmas Eve meant seafood--the one weird, traditional (italian) thing was baccala, dried cod-fish. An acquired taste, to say the least. Haven't seen it in years.

We never do anything special with food except at thanksgiving.

Christmas dinner is usually pizza or hamburgers.

Sad, aint it?

Just Turkey at christmas...

Not celebrating July 4th (although it should be 'Hoorah we finally got rid of those damn Yanks Day' :D ) or St Paddy's day, or Thanksgiving.....

*sigh* all these holidays based around eating and drinking....

No wonder lots of americans are clinically obese

Best meal I looked forward to was Easter breakfast.

My mom used to make Pancakes, French toast. We'd have fresh bagels, coffee, bacon, sausage, taylor ham, and eggs as much as we could eat. One of the few times she cooked all year :)
