It has just been brought to my attention because of another thread that some of you might find my av offensive. While I have already stated that that was not my intent, I am going to take a poll and before the first vote is cast, I agree to abide by the voting in this poll.

If more people find it offensive, or for whatever reason want it gone, I'll delete it. So, cast your vote.

awww, i think it's cute. I just assumed you saw yourself as the little guy. It's no worse than what you might see in some of the magazine advertising around.

Since I can't vote I'll just say that I don't find it the least bit offensive.

I find it interesting that (so far) 4 people have voted it to be offensive, but none have made their faces known....The only responses have been from people saying 'keep it'.

I don't know who "took" this photo, but......

Let's pretend it's a painting.......

And let's pretend that Norman Rockwell is not dead.......

And that in fact, let's pretend that he, Norman Rockwell, is alive and well and he's only 27 years old........ today - in our time now.

Let's say that all his paintings were true to what Norman Rockwell is so true too - depicting Americana.......

Only our pretend Norman Rockwell, our current Norman depicts life in America today - not life of 60 years ago. Let's say he had a reputation, just like the real Norman Rockwell - that was wholesome and that he had a body of work that evidenced that......

So,

If he, the modern day version, the 27 year old version of Norman Rockwell, with an established, wholesome and good reputation - painted "that picture," - would he get a bunch of flack from a large enough group of people out there (today) to amount to anything?

There's actually two questions there - "get some flack?" (I think he would) and - "amount to anything?" - I don't think it would.

Willy the people that know and love you are the ones that matter. Not people that judge just to be judging.

Keep it til YOU want to change it.

I agree--this one is much more bettah. Made me laugh when I saw it--suits you, I think.

I thought so too, Ranajja

but I'm willing to give the other point of view the opprotunity to express their views.

By the way, you yes people better round up some reinforcements, looks like the "Keep its" are way ahead.

I always thought the word "offended" was kind of dumb. Being offended is voluntary...."I'm offended" = "I choose to be offended."

Hope I ddn't offend anyone.

keep it willy.........screw em if they can't take a joke...........love ya april

willy

actually, when i first saw it i laughed my ass off and then emailed it to about 40 people that i knew would get a kick out of it.

as a guy, i can still get away witht his and say it's cute and very amusing.

Keep it. Let it eat at them if they don't like it. I'm sure they wouldn't change something that pissed people off.

Offensive? Not!

With a nick like WillyWanker, that is a great avatar. I have heard small children call their penises, willies and also wankers. So the avatar is definitely in keeping with the nick.

and it is cute as hell!

I didn't vote in the poll (wouldn't let me) but I don't really notice your avatar anymore. At first I was a bit shocked, but then I thought it was kind of cute.

I know you for more than your avatar, though, and like you for what you say.

I voted a the change, I already expressed, my reasons, but it doesn't come down to what anyone thinks except willywanker

I would just love to be in the store with the keep it people and listen to them gasp when daddies little girl grasps him on the leg near the crotch in fear of being afriand of the crowd, and then listen to them say Daddy is such a pervert, yet in the same breath watch those same people go "ohhh, ahhh isn't that cute" when a little boy lifts his mothers skirt.

I posted this to KM's thead...

:p

Lets keep in mind here...that Willy is asking for opinions

:p

I voted that I don't find it offensive.
I don't care if he keeps it or not.
I don't think it's appropriate for this venue.
I don't surf with avs on, except for today, so this issue won't come up with me very often, if ever again.

Should you consider who might be offended by your avatar before you put one up? I think it would depend on which groups you were worrying about offending.

It's appropriateness here, not offensiveness.

I agree with KM....several things make it inappropriate

1) The woman is facing the boy , so it is not as if he is "Sneaking" a peek.

2) She is doing nothing to dissuade him.

3) This is a real picture, It disturbs me that they actually set this shot up and had a child look up a woman's dress. Panties or not , some things are just not worth the money.

I cannot imagine letting my child do this, and I am VERY open and not in the least uptight with my kids about sexual topics.

4) As Todd said...if it were a man and a little girl...it would have lasted all of 5 seconds.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a little surprising/shocking for a AV pic. However, I'm not bothered by it at all anymore. Although some good points are being brought up, I think people are reading a little too much into the pic. I'd say keep it but that it's more your choice then anyone elses.
