This year I've found eBay & have bought many things some have been silly impulse buys but most have been great for my limited budget like tickets to see David Bowie (my ladies idol).

Now my questions....

do you get sucked into the bidding?

Have you bought stuff you don't really want?

What is the weirdest thing your seen on eBay? & did you buy it?

I don't get sucked into bidding unless it's something I really want.
I haven't bought anything I didn't want.

I just bought a turtle skull.

I put myself on a limit and stick to it.

But i just won a used laptop for .99 cents with shipping it came to $7.05.

I buy and sell on ebay :)

I did used to get drwn into the bidding and once paid £12 for a bear in the big blue house keyring thing (it made a noise...but sheesh i don't know where my head was at at that time)

I give myself a strict level to adhere to now.

Not seen anything particularly weird of late...i remember seeing one for a babies used dummy (pacifier) the money from the auction was going to buy the toddler a toy...and thats how he was persuaded to part with it*L*

I didn't buy it. Weirdest thing I've bought? mmm a box full of miscellaneous stuff...it was a lucky dip but a good buy. i sold most of it back on ebay for a profit:p

Evening Gil. :rose:

Yep I'm an ebay-a-holic and no of course every purchase I've made was fully within my budget and my strict personal guidelines ;) lol

I'm usually the sucker who makes an initial bid and then changes her mind but alas no one outbids me and those priceless gems are all mine. My greatest treasure was a 2 foot long Thomas The Tank Engine, it was a bargain until you factor in the $40 in postage. :D

I'm much better now as I see a lot of things I want but do not need so manage to set a low limit on them.

Some of the weird stuff I've seen is kangaroo scrotum purses, mouse fetus in a glass container to be worn around the neck, box of BDSM collars (I did bid on them;) ), swear bears ( a cute little bear that says "your an asshole", "fucking jerk", eat shit" & "fuck you") OK you guess I now have one of the swear bears.:D

Next time in eBay try searching weird stuff.:D

Post is where a lot of sellers try to bump the price up incase their stuff isn't popular to buyers, I did question one seller whose postage was over the top & he replied because he can!.....I never bid on his stuff. We now have 20 positive feedback...how many do you have KISS & maybe we should exchange eBay nics so we don't bid against each other.;)

I watch the postage also. I've also seen postage that was way over top. Like you, I avoid those sellers.

I do search for weird stuff when I can't sleep. I just like to see what's out there.

Here is my swear bear.:D

Can't really say i've bought anything really strange unless you calls vibes and "toys" strange :D I do sell a lot of my son's toys and books on there. And KMF i recently sold about 10 Thomas videos lol
Right now i'm looking for s stuffed tiger like the one in the Calvin Hobbs books if you're familar with those. I know they don't actually make Hobbs but my son wants one that looks like him for Christmas...what we do for our kids:rolleyes:
I don't get drawn into the bidding. It has to be something i really want. We're on a very tight budget so i'm very careful. I do try to set my shipping well within reason(a couple times i didn't charge enough) and i don't pay outrageous prices for shipping either

thanks for the links Gil...there is a LOT of tigers out they're....some are just outrageous although some of the "real" looking ones are beautiful. He wants one that looks likt the tiger on the book....about 3 ft. tall, standing like a person. Nothing picky about my boy huh lol Calvin is a little boy always getting into mischief and blaming his stuffed tiger Hobbs for it:rolleyes: Can you believe Pound introduced him to this book lol Sorry, didn't mean to get off the subject here

After seeing the books they have ob eBay I realised I do know of them but as you say never seen the tiger in stuffed animal form, you might have a hard time finding one my thinks.

I Ebay, and have for many years... i both buy and sell.

None of the wierd things I've seen come to mind, though there are a few interesting ones, such as a number of Islands for sale, including one large on off the coast of New Zealand, and one of the North west coast of St. Thomas in the carribean. I 've seen land with two caves on it for sale, and I've even seen a British Peerage for sale, complete with Manor and duties to fulfill at any royal coronation.

The wierdest thing i've ever bought has to have been a gag gift of a stuffed man sitting in an armchair with his finger sticking out. Pull his finger and he would fart and comment on it.

I always look at the shipping as part of the price, and only buy from those with outrageous shipping if I can win it and still save money over buying in the store.

Yes I've seen things go for more than new prices & 2nd hand too... don't figure

Well I'm off to check out the weird stuff you mentioned but there was a set of stocks on eBay here in Aussie but the bidding got to high for us.;)

Hi Gil! Just another e-Bay'er checking in...

I've been around e-Bay for over 5 years, I use it to buy antiques and other items that I sell downtown. I'm also a big fan of almost new clothing, I buy my daughters jeans at a fraction of the retail price. Ladies can pick up clothing cheaply as well. I've bought new linens that were no longer carried in the store, many items pertaining to genealogy, and a multitude of antique postcards relating to the city that I live in for use on a genealogy website that I maintain.

Yes, the goofballs that jack up shipping costs are the worst. They can charge whatever they want... and do! Always read the shipping cost before you bid. If it's not posted, send the seller a message with your zip code so they can get an estimate to you before you bid.

I learned a long time ago that if you really want something, put it in your "watch" list. Start watching the auction about 5 minutes before it ends, reloading your page often to see if anyone else is bidding on it. When there's one minute left, enter your high bid, keep your eye on your watch and punch the bid now button when the auction will end in 30 or less seconds... It's called 'sniping' lol... but it's highly effective if you really want something.

I hated snipers when I first started at e-Bay. After a lot of disappointments, I started doing it myself. It you can't beat them, join them!

I wonder if there's a support group for SNIPERS ANONYMOUS? :D

Ah the snipers:mad: they have got me several times on things I'd have really like but like you I now play the game & play it well;) although we did miss out on a really nice pair of "fetish" boots the other day(not for me but for BANDIT:heart: ) but found the snipers have also helped me out at times as a similar or same item appears for much less.

Some of our eBay goodies are:
Playstation & 10 games for less than the secondhand games can be bought in stores.
Hand woven rug.
Car-this was a great buy as the seller had the entire history of the car from the time of purchase including all work ever done on it documented.
Monitor
Keyboard, mouse & speakers for less than the cost of retail of just the speakers.
Swear bear this was an impulse buy to see what the hell it was like but it has proven an asset as we get those annoying phone sales ppl ringing up a lot  but with the bear close at hand I just pick it up & press the button to tell them my thoughts, we had visitors who are LIT ppl the other day & got one of these calls which had us all laughing.
David Bowie tickets this was another great buy as BANDIT:heart: is a huge Bowie fan & the cost was less than the price of one ticket which made for a great night out.
There is more but won't dribble on any more here.

HaHaHaHa the man in the chair could possibly be something I'd buy, my lady BANDIT:heart: if we were richer would possibly be into the island off New Zealand as she is a Kiwi.;)
