I’ve had a few female friends tell me they lied about the number of partners to their significant others. I think the reasoning was fear of judgement (and why would you be with that guy?) and also because I believe the vast majority of men are sexually insecure. I think men that are insistent on a low number of partners for any prospective woman they would date are insecure about their own sexual performance and ability to sexually please a woman. The fewer partners she has had the less likely that guy is to suffer by comparison. Weak.

My wife lied about having any sexual partners while we were dating. After we had been married a while, she confessed that she had a bit of sex in college while I was away at another university. Then the number kept increasing as she "remembered" more. I think she honestly doesn't remember some of her "one-timers" but I also know she deliberately fails to tell me about one or two.
