I don't know how an asshole like him got to be mod in the first place.

Well, let's see. He usually doesn't stoop to name calling.

And in case you missed it - catalina asked nicely.

D'oh.

i've been here reading for quite a while and more or less posting (less lately).

i'd like to see the Mod who met everyone's needs without one misstep or hurt feelings left in their wake.

People tend to get caught up in how a message is delivered rather than the message. *shrugs* Do what You want. You're not contractually beholden to be a Moderator and casting about doubtfully re whether You should remain here doesn't do much except invite compliments or detractions. Ultimately, the decision is Yours.

Well ladies and gentlemen, the poll has closed and the people have spoken.

All in all the whole thing seems totally unnecessary now, but you know what they say about hindsight.

I put this poll up not just because of the one recent incident, but because of many, many, many many incidents of conflict I've had as moderator of this forum (many visible, but many more behind the scenes). I took this role expecting not to have to do more than delete spam, as others have pointed out, but I soon discovered how much more I was going to have to put up with.

I dare say that many of you who laugh at my frustration might feel differently if you had to put up with some of the bullshit I've seen.

But more importantly, I put this poll up because I never really felt comfortable taking it in the first place. I knew I could never let the position come at the expense of speaking my mind and I knew there was going to be people who resented it. Since I was appointed, people have let me know we were sworn enemies that I didn't even know existed.

I'm no stranger to ignoring the haterz, but I couldn't help but wonder if I was really the fair choice. Most of all, I wouldn't want to be inadvertantly responsible for a decline in the forum.

Look, it's getting to the point where what I'm saying is meaningless here, so let me keep it real simple.

I didn't know things would turn out this way on an anonymous poll. This wasn't a call for support, but I cannot even begin to express my appreciation and even embarassment that it turned out that way.

I guess it's always been a problem of mine to be extremely self critical. There are times where I could be in a room of people, 9 of which are singing my praises and 1 who is insulting me and he is the only one I can hear. So I guess it was kind of sad that I needed this, but... well.... thanks.

A lot. :rose:

It just made you look more human. Nothing wrong with that. I'm glad you feel better. :)

If it made it clear to you that you are wanted and needed it was worth it. :catroar:

Think it goes with the territory for some of us.

I love you still remain true to yourself and as you know, is one of the reasons I felt we would work well together. Moderating is for me being part of the community, not above and beyond it, or perfect.

I think unless you twist yourself in knots trying to be everyone's best friend and deliver special rules for some you are going to get this reaction unfortunately. If you do attempt to be everyone's friend, somewhere along the line you come unstuck as it is just impossible as a reality. It is sad some feel compelled to declare others as enemies simply because they do not like their views, values, or who they are....no wonder world peace is such a non-event.http://home.scarlet.be/~cl898452/index/speciaals/1speciaals.gif

At some point people have to realise we are all adults and as such responsible for our choices, especially about whether to stay on a board or not. Even in my limited experience of discussion boards and forums, not to mention life itself, I have yet to find a place where everyone agrees 100% with and adores each other....that does not mean we can't co-exist and learn from each other's differences.

Don't be embarrassed you are liked, loved, and appreciated.http://members.home.nl/animation.world/index/dolzz/Dolzz34.gif

LOL, I can so relate to this....and that is one reason Francisco spends a lot of his time tearing his hair out in frustration!!http://members.home.nl/animation.world/index/dolzz/Dolzz06.gif

Having been at this forum for quite a while now, even though lately I've had my hands full doing admin work for Master at two other sites as well as other r/l things getting in the way, I must say this is an issue that comes up time and time again. It's definitely a thankless "job" to say the least.... Marquis and Catalina you have my sympathies in that regard!

That said, if I may I'd like to relay a bit of advice I gave my fellow admin at one of the sites I mentioned... You will never be able to please everyone. Someone will always feel you haven't done the right thing no matter how hard you try.

Marquis... darlin, keep up the good work of being both Mod and Yourself.

Catalina... same thing goes for you sweetheart.

~hugs~

ps the poll closed before I saw this thread, but I think you get an idea of how I would've voted. ;)
