I need to plan a romantic evening
Do men really like candlelight dinners?

My husband wants me to plan a romantic evening out. We have been married almost 20 yrs and have never had a date night. Now that the kids are grown it's our time. I know that I would love it. Maybe I will wear a nice dress with nothing underneath. Tease him throughout dinner and give him a nice surprise in the car on the way home. A nice blow job while he's driving......I know he would like that.

You know what, you've been together for 20 years and he's telling you to set up a romantic evening. Set up something that you'd both enjoy, if he likes getting dressed up and going to dinner, then by all means, a candlelit dinner would be great, but if his idea of romantic is sniffing nitro fuel over the glow of headers at the NASCAR track, then candles will be lost on him. Only you know what your guy likes, so work within that constraint and you'll both have a great evening.
BTW, a blow job while driving is divine, but extremely dangerous, so play very carefully. Also, in this day and age of big brother, there are cameras everywhere, so don't think that "private" spot behind a building is a safe place to play either. Smile for the camera, you'll be on one.

i'm a sucker for candlelight dinners, but i'm also a sucker for anything my wife does that is the product of thought and effort. :>

I assume you are talking about a candlelight dinner at a restaurant. I really love the idea of wearing a dress (hopefully showing some cleavage) with nothing on underneath and teasing the hell out of him during the night. Maybe you could somehow have him get up to go to the restroom and literally flash him on his way back alla Sharon Stone. I know it wouldn't be easy but with proper planning, not impossible. Make sure you wear a helmet on the ride home!

from my perspective a romantic evening doesn't start/stop with a candleight dinner.....its the whole package of something being organised that's fun with an undertone that brings togetherness in whatever setting suits.
whole package being everything from getting to wherever and back again - possibly a little gift ( small in value - big in meaning ), and then ....in my case it would be a few drinks somewhere other than the restaurant - piano bar etc, the dinner and ideally a place that has a little light music for a smooch after, or on to a proper laid back jazz type bar where you can just chill alongside each other.
oh and yep, the BJ or daring outfit sounds hot.

I love it when Lady C arranges something (and the other way around).
Having your partner put in an effort to make it nice for you..... How can you not appreciate that?
On irregular intervals, we let the in-laws have the pleasure of our horde of children and go somewhere. Typically some sort of exercise, a long walk or a run, then a gourmet dinner and a good nights ......... sleep.
Taking the time to do something you like, be together, enjoy!

Obviously there is no right or wrong answer to this, as everyone is individual!
But I know that my ex was really touched (feelings-wise!) when he came home one night after a bugger of a week to find me at the door with a bunch of flowers for him. I took his briefcase and sent him into the bathroom, where I'd drawn him a nice bath. After that, he came into the kitchen to candles on the table, the "good" china, bottle of wine and a 3-course meal of his favourite foods which I'd prepared. And then there was other touching....
That was my way of showing him that I appreciated all he was doing for us, he meant a lot to me and I wanted to show him how special he was.
Romantic gestures shouldn't just be the domain of men to women. I think (hope) that sometimes men like to be romanced as well.... of course judging from the some of the posts here, "romance" is just two little letters of the alphabet

Well March 14th DOES come to mind...but you are supposed to throw a steak in with the deal.
To be honest, we can cook our own steaks.

Even something as simple as a compliment. Women often complain that they feel under-appreciated and under-complimented. Men are rarely paid the sort of routine compliments that women have come to expect.

Lady C had a long day at work today (11 hours on a saturday). Rather than just coming home to dinner, I called her and told her we would dine out.
Greek food, a glass of wine.... And now we're relaxing in bed with our tablets.
...... But as soon as the fullness has subsided a bit, I'll "lick it like I mean it".
And while she was at work, I was having fun building some (a set of? ) stocks like these. Isn't that romantic:
