Do authors ever add links to other posts at the end of their stories?

I believe it's not OK to include links to places outside the site in your stories, but do people ever add links to their other Literotica stories at the bottom of a story?

You can add links within Literotica if you want to. I've seen it on occasion in the foreword/authors note, but it's not very common.

There's no reason to add links to your other stories because those links are basically already there. I linked to another author for inspirational credit one time - but had to ask Laurel to do it for me.

Yes, I've linked to other Lit stories several times, mostly with collaborative stories where one author's account runs the first thousand or so words of the story, which then jumps to the complete story in the other author's account.

The other occasion was a very "meta" story, where a reader recognises themself as the basis for a character in a story, and gets in contact with the "author", who is another version of another character. It got very self-referential, so at the end, I linked to the referenced stories.

It needs to be coordinated with Laurel, but it's easy to do.

My stories have got links to other stories especially if they are series.

My next story has a link to the story of which is the source material. I've got a good relationship with the author she is helping me with my story. It helps the reader?

You can't hyperlink within stories. So jump to page 5 for the next bit sort of thing, but you can go to other lit stories.

I linked to a few authors' profiles in a story where I drew specific characters from specific creators.

I have done this, in the author's note at the end of the story. It linked to a previous story where two supporting characters in the main story were first introduced as main characters in their own origin story.

I'm planning a series with these characters (and others) and these were used in part as character building exercises. Laurel had no issue with the story link I embedded at the end.

You can, if you make nice to Laurel, link to other stories on Lit - but no links outside Literotica. Those will get your story rejected. Speaking from experience.

I often link to the author page of beta readers, or other people who have helped me develop a story. Mostly in endnotes.

If the story is part of a series, I am increasingly putting a link to the series page at the top. I also link to the next episode at the end.

If the story relates to otehr stories, mine or someone else’s (e.g. I was inspired by someone else’s story), then I also link to them.

Links to outside of Lit are not allowed in stories.

I've linked to other author pages and / or stories several times, especially as a shout out / thank you for collaboration, inspiration, etc.

@EmilyMiller and I are currently working on some stories that, while independent tales on their own, share the same universe and will cross connect through shared characters and events.

So of course we're going to link them to draw reader attention to it.

Thanks for this. I had a vague memory of people advising links in end notes. By "end notes" do you mean just text at the end of your story, like an "Appendix," or is it a separate thing when you post?

Just a notes section at the end. Thanking people who have helped. Explaining some things about the story and so on.

An example:

Endnotes & Acknowledgements

  • Emma and Lily first appeared (in an uncredited, metaphorical cameo) in my quasi-autobiographical story, Desire. Among other things, this featured Emma fucking Lily in the ass with an appropriately devilish red strap-on. I liked the idea of the pair and, particularly having just collaborated with Djmac1031 on the equally demonic The Devil And Angel Em, decided to let them loose in the real world. I hope you enjoyed the result.
  • As had been the case with his story, Djmac1031 was my partner in crime. This time our roles were reversed, me writing, him reviewing and suggesting ideas. This is fast becoming a very productive partnership.
  • Thanks also to my boyfriend, for so many things, but, in particular, for providing some color around business conferences. This story is obviously not about him, at least I very much hope not!

What do you mean, "make nice to Laurel?" Is that who reads the submissions? And should I put something in the note to Admins?

I just did this in my most recent story, Seward Summer Internship. I didn't make a special note to the Admin in my submission, but I did say in my story introduction that I would be mentioning several inspirations within my story. Then, whenever I brought up Literotica or a specific author or story, I made sure to put a hyperlink under the words. They all seem to be working fine.

Laurel is the co-owner of the site. She is also the only person who reviews story submissions.

There's no need to "ask Laurel" for permission or ask to create a link to another Literotica story.

In January, When I posted my follow-on story to another author's invite, I gave that author credit with a hyperlink to the original story. Since then, I've stopped writing my series of chapter, and write stand-alone stories about my favorite characters. But in an "Author's Postscript" at the end, I place descriptions and links to my other stories which I might reference in the stand-alone.

The code to insert into your story for such a link is in the following example:
Another story <a href=https://literotica.com/s/the-user-guide-a-geek-pride-story> “The User Guide – A Geek Pride Story”</a> I wrote over a year ago shows how the geek Ted thinks.

That green "<a href" and ending with the </a> will cause the title within the quotes to be a blue highlighted link to that other story. (I colored the hyperlink in green just for this example.)

To get the "https:// " hyperlink, merely right-click the story link in the titlles or your own works page, and copy the link. Then paste that link in this <a href= ....>.
When you post your story with these hypertext links, the web site automatically reads the code within those < >, and converts it to the appropriate web links. And you canuse the Preview before publishing to ensure it worked correctly.

Yes just put a mention there that there's a link to a literatica story or whatever

I also link to the next episode at the end.
I know you have mentioned this recently, but how do you actually do that if the next story is not posted yet? Can you anticipate the URL and add it? Or do you have to go back and edit the previous story once the next installment is up?

If you know what title you're gonna give the next story, you search for that title, note how many of them already exist, and then add a corresponding number at the end of it. It's actually pretty easy to anticipate since the URLs are built using a consistent pattern.

Yeah, that could work. But it seems fragile. And I thought I heard somewhere that the system might balk at a "dead" link in a story. Or not dead, but not yet born.

Yeah, I spoof it. I look at the current chapter URL. I probably get it right like 75% of the time. I ended up linking to someone else’s story with the same title once. Laurel fixed it for me.
