Do any of you drink/do drugs while playing?

I am curious. I have always loved to fuck after a few drinks. (Perhaps it is the relaxation that induces the easier orgasms-who knows?)
BUT
I have never played when I have been drinking.
I am curious if any of you do or if any are completely against it or if any of you have any "rules" concerning this issue.

I generally feel the need to be in charge of my faculties, as it were, when I am playing.

Certain activities make me relax, so I don't need a glass of wine or anything of that nature .

If I have been drinking, my judgment will be influenced and my Dom will not be able to trust my reactions,

I never do drugs, and think it would be especially unwise before palying. But like cellis, I don't have a problem with one or two drinks maximum before a scene. Just enough to relax, but not enough to dull the senses or interfere with good judgement.

Many people are against any drugs or alcohol at all before playing, but with someone you've played with many times before I don't think it's particularly dangerous. Just my humble and possibly misguided opinion.

Honestly, it was the mid-1970's when i started in this and everyone in the world, it seemed (including my mother and father) were doing a little experiementing - or a lot. I did a lot.

I learned to judge myself and my reaction while altered in a number of interesting ways.

Then i settled down and had kids and became a teacher (paragons that we are) and went really straight with respect to all substances that altered my perceptions.

My last two Dominants, they who comprised my last six or so years of sexuality, liked to indulge on occasion. Through them, i regained an enjoyment of such occasional indulgences.

I think one has to trust thier partner to a very extreme degree to play altered. Even then, it's not a good idea for me. I'll not be doing it again in the foreseeable future.

Most of y'all know that i ended up in the ER last summer for a fisting accident with MS. It was partly because we were *both* so totally out of it that we didn't realize the damage was occuring. It'd been a multi-day binge for us and we were simply way too fucked up to be aware that we were not being safe, that i was being hurt in a bad way.

Yes. I know. I am, too, every time i think of it.

Drugs are fine and good and fun - if that's what you want in your relationship and what you can handle in your sexuality. Not for me, though. Not anymore.

We have tried it and did not like it. We rarely do anything mind altering anyway. We have had some funny experiences trying to pull it off though.

I would never consider it with someone I did not trust with my life.

Thanks for sharing Cymbidia. The first time I read this story I was mortified. I could not allow myself to get past the ouch. Now when I come across it I allow myself to think about the medical staff. They are probably still talking about it.

I'm generally against drugs (in my system; wouldn't preach at you if that's what you like) and I haven't really acquired much of a taste for alcohol. I do enjoy wine coolers, but that's just for a nice cold tasty sippy drink. They make me happy. Our play hasn't gotten too life-threatening, and I wouldn't be afraid of hunny having a buzz, which is all he's interested in getting anyway. Hmmm, I think I'm giving away too many personal details; they seem to depict my life as, well, boring. Sigh...

Just another aspect

We play a lot, and have total trust. Having her helpless, and getting a buzz, just adds a little bit more of a thrill to it. Just causes her to be a little more aware of the position she has been put in. I tell her after she is bound that I will be doing it. Sometimes i do it while with her, other times I leave her there to think about it. Antisipation is the biggest thrill.

As with most things, I believe moderation is the key. We indulge in...altering substances with reasonable regularity. The intensity and potential of danger of play has to adapt to fit our present states of mind. We never really push to the limit when we're under the influence. But, we're hardly teetotalers either.

Just like everything else, do what works for you. Only you know your limits. But drugs, of all kinds, can change your awareness of those limits. So, my advice is to decide before you indulge what the limits are, and make sure that whoever is in charge is also in clear control of their faculties. The edge is often closer than you think, especially when you're too far out of your mind to see it approaching.

Actually the girls I "play" with tell me they prefer if I drink before we start anything. I am always so cautious when I am sober and I guess they prefer my senses inhibited. I drink and occasionally use drugs before play. Not alot just to take that edge of my worry about work and relax. I know my own and my partners limits pretty well by now and I wouldn't play heavily if I felt either of us were unsafe.
A glass or two of white wine; or sitting sipping whisky before going to bed is no problem for most adults. Sometimes we get a little higher - share the whole bottle of wine or use poppers.

I wouldn't get high/drunk before playing with a stranger but I know that whatever impariment to my physical co-ordination I can always 'snap out of it' in my head if I need to. And with someone I trust not to slip me things I think theres very little risk. Hey I've been hurt and hurt a partner worse because I was tired and wound so tight from a bad day at work than I ever have when on poppers/dope/alchohol.
