The year is 2110 and earth is on the brink of a new technology era far greater then any before. Technology hasn’t increased that much in the past hundred years except for the banning of internal combustion engines. Cars, airplanes, and even space shuttles have been replaced by ion drive engines capable of 10 times the speed of rockets. Roads are non-existent and only floating buoys mark highways and streets in the sky. Weapons have advanced a bit but nothing too serious the same could be said for armor but new technology is on the rise.
This new technology threatens to change space travel as earth knows it. Already capable of traveling to the edge of the solar system new warp drive technology promises to send humans to the farthest reaches of space. Potentially unlocking the universe scientists from all around the world have gathered to make this dream possible.
That is where you guys come in. These elite groups of scientists have gathered together a group to pilot this new era of space technology. The group comes from all over the planet and your mission is to discover life on other planets. The mission leaves in one week say your good byes and return in a week…..these are your last days on earth.​

The story so far....

The sun rises over the mountain tops spreading a thin sheet of morning light over the lush forest below. Only a few signs of activity litter the area as the world awakens into this new summer day. The faint call of wildlife drifts through the air as a distant volcano rumbles its vast belly of molten rock. A flock of birds drift across the sky calling to each other as several large booms followed by a sustained whoosh ripples from the nearby tree line. Several hundred more birds rush to join the flying flocks all at once, a flurry of calls and chirps rip through the air as other creatures scramble away from the furious noise.

Meanwhile in another part of the world a telephone rings franticly at the house of one General Kosiff, a Russian born immigrant now highly ranked in the US army. Scrambling for the phone he knocks it to the floor abruptly ending the annoying ringing. Picking it up his voice cracks as the last bit of sleep flees from his body. “Kosiff. Who’s this?” A ruff voice answers a moment later. “Its Coslow….The phoenix is awake.” A long pause follows as Kosiff nearly drops the phone. “Alert the others….we have many things to do. I shall be in shortly.” Kosiff hangs up the phone with no response and glances at the clock. “Four in the morning….why four in the morning.”

2 weeks later….

The time has come for a new era of technology far greater then that ever mastered by man. Several of the world powers of Earth have come together in secret developing plans for this new dawn of space travel. Together they have created a warp drive capable of traveling light years in mere moments. The limitless universe is no longer limitless and you have been chosen to dive deep into its unknown depths.

A new organization has been formed to deal solely with this new technology and the knowledge it gathers. They have assembled a top notch team of 6 specialized men and women to pilot this new craft into the black abyss. No longer will the constraints of human ageing get in the way of mankind and its ever grasping hand of knowledge.​

 Jury-Rig:

+2 competence bonus on Repair skill checks made to attempt temporary or jury-rigged repairs.

 Extreme Machine:

If it has mechanical or electronic components, a Techie of 2nd level or higher can get maximum performance out of it.

By making a Craft (electronic) check the Techie can temporarily improve a machine's performance -- at the risk of causing the machine to need repairs later. The DC for the Craft check depends on the type of improvement being made, as shown on the table below.

The Techie performs the extreme modifications in 1 hour. The Techie can't take 10 or take 20 on this check. If the check succeeds, the effect of the improvement lasts for a number of minutes equal to his or her Techie class level, beginning when the object is first put into use. The Techie selects the single improvement he or she wants to make prior to making the check. After the duration of the effect ends, the machine reverts to its previous state and a repair chance percentile roll is made. The result of this roll indicates whether the machine requires repairs before it can be used again.

Here's the cybernetic enhancement that I would like.

Data Archive (PL 7)

A data archive is a microcomputer implanted in the recipient’s skull. It contains skill-related information stored on a series of biological data chips, or biochips.

Benefit: The recipient treats all skills as class skills. Furthermore, the recipient gains access to an information database that grants a +4 equipment bonus on all Knowledge checks.

Type: Internal.

Hardness/Hit Points: –/2.

Base Purchase DC: 27.

Restriction: None.
 
New to DnD

I have only played five individual games of DnD, using the 3.5 version.

If you can put up with a rather simple character who is just a fighter, then you have a female joining. I understand how to roll now, but still do not understand how to level up a character sheet, but my bf play's so he can help me do that. If this is more RP based and less roll based I should be okay.

So we can only have Lv 5 characters right?
 
We need a few more players. Sorry I been away my car broke down and its been hell getting places. I been putting everything together while i'm gone though.

Cool cool. Umm psi I will allow depends on what kind of mutant though. Post what you want and I will look it over. Don't go to extreme and I will accept it.
 
well one of the options i was considering I wanted the darkvision mutation and then something that occured to me was then what would be your ruling of darkvision with binoculars/scopes?

Then maybe to get darkvision i'd lose a limb and possibly light sensitivity and something else for roleplay purposes.
 
I think I would allow the darkvision to be extended to the range of whatever is enhanceing your vision. Everything sounds good to me should be no problem

Story: Joining the military he ended up in the sniper core, as part of an experimental project. They wanted to turn out snipers that could naturally see in the dark and adapt to different conditions however, it left Kale with some side effects. At first he noticed while he could see in the dark, his eyes turned to a solid blackness and in time started to reflect brightly at night when light was shined at him. As time went by, he noticed he slowly became sensitive to bright lights, and eventually was unable to walk around without shades. As time in the corps went on, more side effects started to appear, his body became weak, he got sick more often, for longer periods of time, and increasingly sensitive to food poisoning. With his body compromised he was dropped from the project and had a bad mark on his military record and consequently turned to piloting. Being inside a nice controlled environment meant a modicum of safety and less worry about getting sick out on the field.


I think that's everything I might have missed something and I haven't quite decided on cybernetic stuff yet. Oh I was curious about getting light or medium subcutaneous armor, or a feat implant.

Hmmm may I take medic?

I have most of the D20 modern books (core, adversary, future and weapons locker) so genning shouldn't be a problem (though I'm not sure what I've done with my future book....)

I'm thinking of a doctor with a dual fascination with Late 20th/early 21st century military history and xenobiology.

I'll gen later this week if I have time

What style of play were you thinking?

Play by post or over IRC/IM?

Also do you want evidenced dice rolling?
