DIY no-sew face mask

I'm using one of my dad's old, old. old bandanas cowboy style. I'm all set for the next dust storm. :)

I think antique stores are going to be open Friday I should look for some vintage ones

I carry a bandana with me at all times.

I have for many, many years.

A knife too...

Wouldn't like a, oh I don't know maybe a normal disposable mask be easier? I have boxes of them. If I got 'em then they ain't rare cuz I don't even want the damn things. I keep a couple in the vehicle for places that require them but shit, this could go on for a year and I probably wouldn't use a whole box.
Anyway, yeah I think you can just get them now. Or maybe I was lucky. I don't know. It's your problem, not mine.

Store bought masks are not to be found around this area. Long since sold out of all the stores that carried them, and they have not been able to replace their inventories.

There are groups, in this town and many others, that are making masks.
They take donations, whether it be money or materials, and give them away. They have been at it for quite a while since this thing started.

I don't understand why governments don't focus on producing more p2/n95 non-disposable respirators over surgical disposables.

Yes, the industrial machinery s more sophisticated, but they're a good investment.

They have better filter capacity than surgical masks + are more affordable, cause they aren't disposable. You can sterilise them by putting in the oven, or with a cheap UV commercial sterilizer!

Buying 100 disposable masks/ month costs 200 $ - not many can afford that, so they'll just reuse them++, which defeats the purpose.

If a government (just as a hypothetical example) of 100 leaders has 1 million people
voting for it, then it is faced with 1 million differing viewpoints on where focus lies
so the 100 spend agonizing hours trying to sift through all the points of focus
to ascertain which points will garner them 500,001 votes so, as you can see,
it wasn't until presented with a crises that this focus we anywhere near the
top of the hierarchy and may still not be because a few masks do not buy
votes quite like a healthy stimulus check (campaign bribe) will...

Another one uses pant legs and long thin pieces of fabric, shoelaces, etc.

When I can buy fabric the virus may be forgotten.

Apples and pears.

N95 masks is what you wear to keep the virus out. In concert with a full ppe kit and rigorous routines.

The disposables, the cloth masks and the d.i.y's you see, are what you wear to keep the virus in. It's a fancier way of coughing into your elbow so you don't accidentally spray the other grocery shoppers with your nasties.

I got a bunch of hoo-rags.

It might work: cut off the sleeves of a long sleeve T-shirt and use it like a hoorag

I didn't know that, I thought that N95 masks were for both.

But even so, isn't it far, far more incentifying to wear a N95 mask?
More people wearing them = less spread.
