Somebody PLEASE tell me where the .avi decompressor is for Quicktime. Apple says it's at Microsoft, Microsoft says it's at Apple, when in reality it's nowhere. I had it, but all of that got wiped in the system crash, and now I have no idea where I originally got it.

There are actually several different codecs used in the AVI format. Most of them use some form of the Intel Indeo compression, and for some reason are often not included in the standard Quicktime installation.

You can download the three most common codecs directly from Apple. Links to the download pages for the MacOS version of these codecs can be found at

http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n11265

Note that despite being named Indeo 3, 4 and 5, respectively, these are entirely different codecs, not different versions of the same thing. You need them all. The installation instructions are specified on the pages referenced.

Let me know if these don't do the trick.

Seems to have worked, Felix. Thanks oh so much. Now there shall be porn for all. ;)
