Alright sorry if this isn't allowed or is a downer to the board. I got divorced (or so I thought I did) back in 2020? Turns out I am still married but somehow my ex wife or wife got remarried back in 2022 and it is documented as an official marriage. I been trying for a month to find out what I can do to get my divorce papers but the when I call the court the phone just rings and I been trying to get a hold of my ex but she is tweaked out homeless somewhere in Oregon. If anyone has some advice or help I could really use it because this shit is messing with my head hardcore.

Ok, not a lawyer, but like…don’t ask for legal advice on a sex topic forum. Sounds like about as good of an idea as slathering raw meat over your nutsack and inviting a bear to dig in.

Having said that, don’t think you need your wife’s permission to be divorced. You’ll want to talk to a lawyer to get 100% on the process, but there is no state that forces you to stay married against your will. My guess is that property is going to be messier, but that’s what a lawyer is for.

Overall, don’t slather your balls in meat and invite a bear to eat it.

Depending on where you live YOU could have some serious legal problems. you need professional Legal help ...both to keep your ass out of jail and civil court and to help you get this Divorce crap fixed!

At the very minimum, sounds like a trip to the courthouse to find out what is going on and getting copies of whatever records they have. Then a good sitdown with an attorney. Good luck.

No one is going to jail, he has a pretty good argument that he didn’t know he was still married. Even if he didn’t, if the main crime is bigamy, it’d be crazy for a prosecutor to pursue that by itself.

Yes, bigamy is indeed a crime, but my point is that it won’t be one worth prosecuting over, especially if OP has a legitimate argument for innocence. You look up who’s actually being prosecuted for bigamy and it’s pretty much always something worse driving the whole thing (e.g., underaged marriage, weird religious shit, a pseudo-slavery kind of arrangement).

You thought you got divorced?
You never were in court signing documents?
You will have to show up to the courthouse. Sounds rural since most urban countries have this information online.

Maybe they used to live in a country where you just had to yell “I declare Divorce!”

I think in Islamic cultures, the custom is that you just have to tell your wife that you are divorced three times to make it a legally binding divorce. “Talaq,” as it is called.

Maybe
I think we should install divorce vending machines in Vegas outside of those wedding venues.
