So i just found out that I am finally, over two years post-separation, legally divorced. I've been very happily surprised to discover that my anger towards the ex lifted like the fog, replaced by a distant amusement, and a willingness to coparent for the brief time left before the Spawn comes of age. (Not that parenting ends then... but theoretically, co-parenting at least goes down a bit.)

For all you long-divorced folks, remarried or not: What is your happiest post-divorce memory, or thought? What would you say now to a person in the position I was in two years ago - sad, angry, confused, with their life tossed in the air? Or what would you say to me now, to a person happily re-emerging into the bright sunlight, unsure of the future and fine with it?

(I was going to post this on the General Board, but it's too damn political there, with too many trolls. You guys are far nicer.)

There are a lot of happy memories post divorce..the one that stands out most is when I discovered. " she could not push any of my buttons" she had no affect on me . Nothing she did or said about me could hurt me . My kids know the truth and the reality of what went on.

I read once somewhere that the body replaces every cell in the body approximately every 7 years. I look forward to having a body that he never touched. I am with you pretty much on timeline so I don't have a lot to offer in the way of what to look forward to, but I am well aware every single day that I am now free. I have a LONG time to co-parent still. Youngest is almost 3. I look forward to when my children can also be free.

I would say don't rush into anything but just enjoy being alone. There will be plenty of time to be with new people. But that's me.
