I’ve had long hair much of my adulthood.

I’ve seen a few comments about body image today. Not going to lie. It’s an issue. Mostly for women. It does hit both sexes.

I’ve always said that I am one vain mother fucker. Not lying about that. I’m not going to be what I was ten or 15 years ago, but I like to look good.

I have been enjoying the latest album by In This Moment. Maria Brink sounds good and there are some nice covers. I haven’t really listened to the band’s older music, so I do a search. Click on Maria Brink’s names to see what she has done over the years.

The Wikipedia biography starts like this.

Brink has been awarded "Rock Goddess of the Year" in the 3rd (2013) and 5th (2015) Annual Loudwire Music Awards,[1][2] "Hottest Chick in Metal" in 2010,[3] one of eleven women in heavy metal who matter by Yell! I thought to myself, why does a singer’s biography begin like this? Are these “awards” her major accomplishments? Is that what Maria Brink would point to if you asked her to list what she’s proud of? I’m willing to bet she wouldn’t.

I read other biographies of Maria Brink. She has had to overcome quite a bit to get to where she’s at.

Does it help her that she’s attractive? Of course. Humans are strange this way.

But I’m reminded of an argument I had years and years ago.

I have not made it a secret I absolutely loathe country music. It’s awful. Absolute garbage. In my humble, mother fucking vain opinion.

A guy said he listens to Shania Twain because she’s hot. Her song was playing. I replied with, I cannot see her right now. Only hear this piss poor music. You can masturbate to her music at home.

I know men in music get objectified as well. But it’s not the lead accomplishment on their biography.

What’s my point?

The new In This Moment album is pretty good.

And on an objectification site such as lit, I’m looking to be drawn in with more than just a nice body.

I’m always looking to be entertained in my own way.
