For the sake of “diversity,” a UK group started a science competition for girls. Then, for the sake of “diversity,” they opened up the competition to boys who wanted to participate. Then a boy won, and now the diversity police are left scratching their heads on what to do. Whose “diversity” matters more?
After laughing out loud at the feminists I realized there's a better solution for this.

How about we have blind science competitions, like "The Voice" but for science projects. Make it so no one who is judging the competition knows who is working on what project, or who is behind the final product that they're judging.

Sound good?

That would be unfair and totally misogynistic, islamophobic and RACIST!

If I remember right, in a science fair, your presentation is nearly as important as the project itself. You had to be able to clearly express your concept, and then respond to questions from the reviewers. So a blind contest would lose a big piece of what these things are all about.

And no, I don't have an answer myself.

As usual, Le Jerque only posts the part of the story that suits his position. The EDF Energy Pretty Curious Challenge was never "for girls". It was only limited to children between ages 11 and 16. Children of both sexes participated, and the finalists were three girls and two boys.

The vote for the winner was public, so the selection of a boy as winner had nothing to do with EDF Energy or the contest judges.

That is known as "taking out of context" or "spinning the story" or simply 'lying'. It's a favorite tactic of bullshit-shovelers.
