I was wondering if anyone has a Diva Cup. I've heard so many good things about them so I bought one today. I tried putting it in but I couldn't get it in properly and then couldn't get it out very well after. I can't seem to rotate it after it's in like it says you're supposed to. Does anyone have any tips for using them?
Thanks! :cattail:

I got mine about a month ago. It's pretty sweet and works great--once it's in.

It does take practice. So far, inserting it about halfway then playing with it a bit--spinning it, squeezing it, doing kegels--until it pops out into its proper shape works for me.

As far as retrieving it: I reach in with my finger and thumb then squeeze and spin it gently until the seal breaks. It slides out relatively easily after that.

If you need some alternative cup folding ideas, do a search for menstrual cup folding techniques. A Livejournal community on menstrual cups should come up. There, you'll find pictures for several different folds.

Practice (it gets easier to use), and don't rush getting used to it.

I've had the "keeper" (like the Diva, but rubber) for almost 5 yrs now and would never go back to tampons.

I  my Diva Cup, even after giving birth it's been great!

Go onto LiveJournal, there is a group of women that use menstrual cups. They have a lot of great hints and tips for getting it put in.

You CAN try using a bit of lube to see if that helps. I know that mine tends to 'stick' unless it's damp-ish.

I do the fold like they say to, and then stick my finger up there next to it and mess with it until it pops open. I got it perfectly right last month, and couldn't get it to really do it's thing this month so I got mad and used tampons. I'm just in a bad mood though (missing the sweetie), so I didn't have any patience left for it. It does sit low enough for me to think it's falling out, but when I put it in higher it leaks. Last month it was the coolest invention, and this month it made me nuts. I think it takes time and messing with it. I'll see how next month goes, it can't get worse

ok now that i have a rough idea what this is, can someone tell me if its fine to have sex with?

You mean intercourse while it's in ? That's a no-go.

You can do it with softcups (like the Instead cups, which are disposable) but not the Diva or Keeper cups, unfortunately. It's really the only bad part about it.

bummer......

I got mine last summer and I think it works fine but it does take som practice.
Try to fold it like they show in the picture, then insert it and slide a finger around the edges of the cup, then pull slightly. It should sit lower than you think or it will leak. Hope that helps!

Manual stimulation is fine with the cup in though. I wasn't sure if it would be or not, but that's the stage of sex my boyfriend and I are at and I didn't know if he'd even notice it......he didn't. That was the first time. Now sometimes I do tell him if it's there because sometimes he likes to go deeper in with his fingers and boy does that hurt to have it pushed up to the cervix. The reason it doesn't work for intercourse is not because it would poke the guy but because it sits at the opening of the vagina, so not really anywhere for the penis to go.

My trick for getting mine to pop open easily is to take my thumb and push the rim of the cup towards the point. The folding technique they include in the instructions is nearly useless for me. I also trimmed the stem to just barely more than a nubby to be comfortable. Otherwise I felt like I was getting stabbed in the labia.
