they've begun to buy up the rights to distiribute and dub tons of hk flix. you will no longer be able to import any hk flix so that you don't have to listen to stupid americans do an awful dubbing. why? because disney feels that reading subtitles is too hard for you. and that listening to cantonese and mandarin are confusing for you. they also feel that since america is becoming so much more accepting of chinese film that the shitheads can make a buck off of it.

why can't these shit heads go back to what they're half way decent at? rerelease ANOTHER classic disney movie, add one new scene and make 200 illion more dollars off of it. run their fucking theme parks for godsakes. maybe just maybe, STAY THE FUCK OUTTA ASIA!

Well, I live in Orlando Florida, home of the big rat. I happen to know many people whose lively hood depends upon Disney... So, I can hardly say I hate them... They provide alot of jobs here.

I wholeheartedly disagree with much of Disney Co's decisions, most of them stem from one greedy SOB. (Yeah you know it's Mikey Eisner). But he's one man among thousands maybe millions worldwide that make Disney the entertainment empire it is. So cut the rat some slack, and look for bootlegs of your films!

deal buying up the Civil War Battlefields??? It was a very big controversy several years ago. Did they finally wise up and give up on it?

I was all for Disney until they shafted the small investor and killed their drip plans. Once they did that I have not supported Disney since.

dawg, i don't care if there's a disney theme park in every state and country. all i'm saying is that i would like them to maybe execute mike eisner during a festival of lights or somethign really truely disney. the only rat in disney isn't mickey or minnie, it's eisner. he's a fuck-up, i know, but i'm tired of him doing things that he thinks will make a buck for him and disney corp, but then instead lays off a good deal of people to make up for his mistakes.

i like the fact that disney provides so many jobs, but do you really want to watch any cantonese film in a poor english dub? have you suffered and watched high quality forieng movies only to wish you were deaf to the english. it's really odd to hear cantonese actors speak english, in fact it's worse that they use voices that would never work for the characters they had originally.

maybe i'm a film purist, or maybe it's the fact of my chinese major...but i can't stand to see movies be butchered, altered, edited for american audiences any longer. and if that means i can no longer use such wonderful import websites like www.yesasia.com , www.hkflix.com and etc, to find movies that are great and enjoyable when not dubbed in english, then i will be one pissed off SOB.

by the way, dawg, look forward to seeing shaolin soccer in theaters under the disney ownership. ah, i'm sorry that's right, they're changing it to kung fu soccer and as for the story changes (which happen everytime a movie is dubbed) that remains to be seen. what's next? is mickey going to be the voice for jet li? or maybe goofy'll do it.

anyway, i'll be waiting in the theaters to see what ended up on the cutting room floor....

Truly, it doth suck. I don't speak a word of Chinese (except for the names of about 30 martial art styles and movements) but I'd still rather hear the original voices in movies. Being an Anime fan, and hearing both the original, and dubbed versions makes me quite certain of that.

I understand the mysticism and allure that Disney has to kids and dont know what i will do in June when I become an instant Dad. That will be a difficult choice to make. Please the kids or stick to your guns and hurt them. Disney Co knows this.

tiger, it won't happen in june maybe, but in a few years you'll find you own a copy of every disney movie ever made and a few years after that you'll invest a month's pay in a trip to disney world

the kid will wear you down, and being a good dad (as i'm sure you will be) you'll find yourself on main street usa, wearing mouse ears and chucking money at everything you see

i know...been there, done that (as they say)...and i'll probably do it again next year because when it comes right down to it, i can't deny that i had a lot of fun too (and the kid is wearing me down again)

well, considering i only liked growing pains, and hated every disney movie except freaky friday, sorry kids, you're going down.

i was one of those kids who hated disney because it always had a perfect ending. if you had ever watched growing pains, it wasn't perfect all the time. once dicrappio came his character's past at least added something other than poor acting abilities. he was homeless, a little undrt he law and did what felt right. this didn't agree with the family and so i likee the show.

as for freaky friday, come on, kid switches place with the mom, it was funny.

my hate for disney burned because there wasn't anything that applies to my life. none of my mom's favorite names for me would ever be uttered in a disney movie; never would a child be working two full time jobs at 11 yrs old; never would a kid be supporting his entire family (think charlie and the chocolate factory) by paying rent, bills, food, etc.

the only thing i can say for disney is that it better not disappoint my kids. i know my fiancee and by then wife, will encourage them to like it, but deep down, through every disney movie i'll be forced to watch, i'll have to hold back the burning bile of lies that disney held to mess with kids heads, "life may not always be perfect, but there's always a happy ending"

Disney, and children's programming in general these days, is awful. I remember when I was young, Snow White, The Little Mermaid.. Good movies, with a real plot, stuff the kid could get into. Nowadays.. It's awful.. Most Disney movies have a "plot" that's basically just there to come up with things for the characters to sing about.... *sighs* Oy.. So mind numbingly stupid...

You don't understand about the appreciation for an artform I guess EBW.. I can completely understand where tmuyo is coming from. I'll admit it, I'm an anime addict, and there's not many things more sickening than watching americanized anime. It loses so much in the translation it's not even worth watching. Especially when they take anime that was intended for adults or teens and "dumb it down" for kids. It's really awful. Case in point: Dragonball Z. Now, most of you out there probably hate it, and most of you probably haven't seen subbed episodes from the first couple of seasons. There was plot, angst, high emotions, wonderful characterization... Yeah, there was the violence too, but the bastards couldn't even leave that alone without editing it....
