Hey, I thought it would be a fun thread to
talk about techniques, equipment, styles
and whatever, about taking digital photography of nudes, semi-nudes, your friend, lover, SO etc.

Lets talk about, poses, positions, lighting, photography techniques, post-production editing etc..

If your posting pictures of yourself, friend, lover,SO, then what equipment are you using?

What do you do to "set the mood"?

Interesting thread, Huggles...For what it's worth, most of the time we tend to just get grab shots and candids, unless we're alone in the house (difficult with kids) and are indulging in a really dirty weekend, when we'll set aside an hour or two for a full photo shoot. In that case, the photography becomes the foreplay...gets interesting. ;)

Poses ? Hmmm...generally we try to be good and start off with classical poses, that sort of thing, and then we just let the mood dictate what happens.

Lighting is almost always natural, or at most a single tungsten light.

Equipment is an Olympus E-10, Polaris light meter and material to diffuse the light source. As far as post processing goes, usually Ulead PhotoImpact 6.

Other than that, the main ingredient is FUN!

<clink, clink> $ 0.02 deposited.

Cool.. Well, we have a Nikon CoolPix 995
(3.3 megapixel). With external flash bracket and SB50X nikon flash (The internal flash on digitals really suck)..

Manfroto tripod, couple of tungstein porta-floods.

I should get myself a light meter one of these days..

Post processing - I use The Gimp and Photoshop (For print work).

(Im mostly doing small product work).

Pity wifey wont let me take some nice glam shots for her :( She thinks she's too ugly.

Well.. If anyone needs a photographer :)

Great thread. I'll be watching for tips and to add to list to Santa. Ours are with Nikon Coolpix 800 (sans swivel head). Occasionally use a good tripod left over from my "serious" print/slide days. Usually internal flash only with normal room lighting cranked up. Usually have the camera handy and get in the mood first, then the camera is an extra turn-on rather than seeming sort of "clinical". Have to be careful not to get too far before grabbing the camera. As always, timing is everything, and timing is always my job.

I've currently got a friend's digital, but I keep bugging hubby about getting one of our own. He says the friend's camera is grainy and I tend to agree. Any recommendations? I know I want a tripod and timer! <eg>

We're just getting into photos so pretty much right now it's point and shoot.

Canon Power shot 100

This camera had been upgraded to the 110 and they added video capability. I enjoy this, as it is only the size of a cig pack. Also can get a 256 MB compact flash card, which at the highest setting allows you to take almost 180 photos give or take. I have a tripod and several rechargeable batteries too.

HP C200...

...with a self timer that I use most of the time. It's about 3 years old, if I remember correctly...cost about twice as much then as it would now. It can hold 80 pics on lowest quality setting with an 8mb Flash card, 40 on medium quality, only 17 on highest...but I find the low setting works well enough for most pics. If I'm going for something really nice though, posed or action shots of various things, then I use the higher settings.

Natural lighting with the automatic flash, or a lamp or something in the background. It attaches to any basic tripod, and we have one of those with a camcorder...so that gets used when it's more of a "posing" thing. Usually the pics I take are more spur of the moment though, so the tripod doesn't get too much use.

I'd like to get a digital camcorder that can also do still photos...and preferably with a remote so I don't have to go back and forth all that often. If I'm thinking about it, I try to get a solid background when taking pics...and then I crop it when I put it on the computer to take out any stray items laying around.

Our Coolpix 800 doesn't have a remote either, just the self-timer. I can see where the remote would be a real plus.

You can get a remote for the CP 995...
but they wanted like AUD $250 for it (Around USD $125)..

I didn't want it THAT badly..
