I don't really care enough about your indignation over your conspiracist voting theories to read the exact same post in every single thread that has even the most remote passing mention of contests or voting.

Quit trying to hijack everyone else's thread to turn the discussion on to you. It's very rude. If you've got that much of a problem with it, start your own thread or hold your cut and paste spam to threads that are fully relevant to your voting paranoia.

The thread I started with the word "contest" in the post didn't have a good goddamned thing to do with voting. That particular contest, by the way, is not measured through reader votes in any way, shape, or form. That thread wasn't about your voting problems, it was about PMs.

Do have some consideration for someone besides yourself.

thank you KM...I had originally responded to this on the thread it was posted on, but in following with good manners, have decided to move it to this thread, where it belongs.

This only confirms what I was saying in the first place, and in the second place, I only posted my conspiracy theory as a warning to those who put so much stock in the voting system here. Why anyone would take offense at a public service announcement is beyond me. (LOL) Oh, and I await your reply seeing as how you are a last word freak.

Ok, I'm annoyed with you

Personally, I take offense at your "public service announcement" when I run across the same post in multiple threads that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. Create a thread and bitch to your hearts content there. Call it conspiracy or something like that and go for it.

Bottom line...you think people are out to get you? cheat them by turning off your votes so that they can't "bomb" your stories.

And regarding your stories, I've checked out a few. And quite frankly while I just hit the back button rather than vote at all, i can see why they would get ones from others. If I bothered to vote on a story that used things like soda cans as euphimisms for girth comparisons, I would give it nothing higher than a 2, or a 1 if there were also gross mistakes in spelling and grammar. Personally, I have never, nor would I choose to vote on a story that I couldn't at least finish. But that's just me. My readers prefer a more realistic, or literary effort with plot and well developed characters. Yours prefer a fast stroke...there are certainly enough readers to go around. And quite frankly, most everyone's stories, unless truly atrocious, settle around a 4.0-4.3, the fluctuations in between reflecting the spectrum of readers.

Should your reaction to this post be to go and 1 bomb all my stories, just be forwarned that I really don't care about them and unlike you, i will not sit around and bitch on every thread on the author's hangout.

Your continued insistence that people win the survivor contest by votes only shows your ignorance of the contest and your unwillingness to participate in the community other than to sit around and bitch about it.

There are no cliques in the authors forum, and very fewon the site in general...for the most part there are only boards that you can participate in or not. And while the people here to refer to each other in a familiar way it's because we all generally contribute on a very regular basis, and not just self gratifying reposts of feedback (which is technically not kosher with Laurel, but whatever). I joined lit about a year ago, and for the first 6 months, I only shyly lurked and posted a few stories. But since the end of the summer, i have become VERY active on boards. In a word I went from 500 posts in 5 months to 3000 in the next six. I got to know people and to contribute, and I became part of the community. You get out of lit what you put into it. And if you only put in bitching and moaning you get put onto ignore lists out of it.

My parting words are to repeat an earlier comment...you don't like the voting system? turn off the voting options. You want to bitch about your scores? do it on your own thread.

Okay... this pisses me off.

I read your comments on my thread and went and read your story. I thought it was damned good and voted accordingly. I only wish it had been longer.

Dirt Man I'm not part of the clique at the Authors hangout either. I can't say why my story is getting voted on and yours isn't. I think your story is damned good and I've read a couple more. I like what I see, and I'm looking forward to reading more of your work.

(This is typical of the feedback that I get on every story I post here)

I am the author of this PM. It was personal; and private from me to you. At no time did you ask me for permission to use my PM or even let me know it was going to be used.

I did have sympathy for your cause because I saw your story as being well written and in my opinion ... as stated in the PM... good. That didn't mean I wanted to be dragged into the fight via my PRIVATE message.

Personally I don't give a big rats ass how my writing scores. Admittedly I would love to see my ranking as high as possible. It feeds the ego... but more important to me is the feedback. I would rather know what people thought about the story and know how I can improve as a writer than have my not inconsiderable ego stroked. I write for relaxation. Hopefully I might make money from it one day, but for the moment it is therapeutic.

Seeing my PMs in posts does little for my relaxation.

DON'T use PMs in posts without the authors permnission.

Rant over. You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled program.
