The Library of Congress (itself) has a collection of over 150M items.

This DPLA is all Open Access content. OA material tends to be dated. The best content is for fee. I am sure your daughter will agree with this.

Well, yeah, free and available online is going to be more limited than real and unavailable somewhere else.
