Did I miss something?

They should be ashamed of themselves! I am all for animal rights but for &^%$^&*%$% sake. Hes not done anything wrong, hes healthy and looks happy so people need to leave the cute little darling alone. As it is I had to cut his picture out of the paper for the little one to have this morning.

Come on people, there's still a good 200 or so polar bears left in the world, why do we need 201 that's just a crazy amount. :tut:

I am suggesting a compromise here. Let the little fellow grow up into an adult bear. See how the adult bear turns out in comparison with the other adult zoo bears. Then, if Frank Albrecht still thinks that the subject bear did not turn out right, give Frank Albrecht a paring knife and let him go in and kill the bear. The man does have a right to his opinion.

In the real world a polar bear lives on the ice during the season and catches seals when they come up to breath through the holes in the ice that the breathing seals keep open. Most zoos do not have facilities to train their captive polar bears in real world techniques. Thus, the adult zoo bears are not wild bears and will not have the same reactions as wild bears would have.

PETA kill animals all the time. In fact, it has been estimated that they euthanize more dogs than the animal shelters they have protested.

Come on! Eventually any extremist ends up in a position completely contradictory to the core principle of his/her belief system.

It should be an -ism law.

hi boota,

In fact, it has been estimated that they [PETA] euthanize more dogs than the animal shelters they have protested.

by whom? ref? url? (note: attorney general Gonzales is questionable source, these days!).

There's a whole site for it.

I like the chart at the bottom right... where it shows the takein/adopt/kill ratios between 1998 -> 2005.

*shrug*

But I mean, this is an organization that several times has point-blank stated death is better for the animal... kinda like chopping off the head for a headache, I suppose.

I'm sure my dog would LUV to have to fend for himself or die rather than be catered to paw-to-paw.
