Did anyone see the latest CNN gallup poll

They had a poll asking if Arab-Americans should have to have some kind of ID card. + or - 3% error

49% said yes they should and 49% said they should not.

WTF is this. I can't belive this is even an issue let alone that almost half of the people in a poll agreed with it.

The first thought that came into my mind was Hitler making Jews wear the star of david so everyone would know who they were.

That's crazy, and I thought that's what a green card was for? And as for Arab people who were born in America, I think they are just as American as me. I'm only the second generation of people actually born in America in my family, my grandmother was from Ireland. I would be outraged if someone told me I needed an ID card cause I or someone in my family might be affiliated with the IRA or something.

I may have lost a very excellent old friend, who tends to be pretty damned liberal, because I freaked when he suggested that all the "Muzzies" should be locked up in camps. Obviously, things won't go any further... unless something horrible takes place, and then we'll see how ugly Americans can be, and for how long.

Illegal

Azwed, I think it's an outrageous notion, the opposite of what this country is supposed to be about. It was inflammatory and irresponsible of Gallup to even put that in the poll. It's probably illegal, as well.

I said in another thread the other day that, as a Jew, I never feel entirely accepted or entirely safe in this country. I don't like how so-called Americans are treating the Arab minorities in this country since 9/11. We need to take our own constitution seriously - in bad times as well as good.
