Troubles for Biden not just his age in reelection campaign: POLL

The president's job approval rating is 19 points underwater.

President Joe Biden's job approval rating is 19 points underwater, his ratings for handling the economy and immigration are at career lows. A record number of Americans say they've become worse off under his presidency, three-quarters say he's too old for another term and Donald Trump is looking better in retrospect -- all severe challenges for Biden in his reelection campaign ahead.

Forty-four percent of Americans in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll say they've gotten worse off financially under Biden's presidency, the most for any president in ABC/Post polls since 1986.

On handling immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border, Biden's rating is even lower, with 23% approval.
And the 74% who say he's too old for a second term is up 6 percentage points since May.

Such is down-on-Biden sentiment that if a government shutdown occurs at month's end, 40% say they'd chiefly blame him and the Democrats in Congress, versus 33% who'd pin it on the Republicans in Congress -- even given the GOP infighting behind the budget impasse.

Trump, for his part, has improved in retrospect. When he reluctantly left office in January 2021, 38% approved of his work as president, essentially the same as Biden's rating now. But currently, looking back, 48% say they approve of Trump's performance when he was in office -- matching his peak as president.

Among the 56% of Americans who disapprove of Biden's work in office, a wide 75% say that, looking back, they approve of Trump.

A remarkable 62% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents say the party should pick someone other than Biden as its nominee in 2024; just a third back Biden.

Head-to-head in a hypothetical November 2024 matchup, Trump has 51% support while Biden has 42%

Isn't that like 13 months away and the press has been on Trump sabbatical and will return refreshed and energized should he show any signs of life politically? The general voting population has an "expires on" limit of about 28 days...

Of course all the usual caveats apply. The election is 13 months away, a poll is just a snapshot in time, just one poll, etc. etc.

What’s particularly noteworthy about this poll are:

1. The source: ABC News/WashPost are left leaning organizations

2. The trend. This poll has Trump up 10 points over Biden. By comparison, ABC/WP poll from September 2019 had Biden up 15 points. And the poll tends to dramatically overstate Democrat support. For example, its final 2020 poll had Biden up 12.

It seems that more and more Americans are waking up to the fact that creating more and more money out of thin air isn't working for them.

Trends, fads and fashions come and go. As I stated, the press and its readership/viewers are on political sabbatical and pay no attention outside of that 30-day window. Being not in office, someone like Trump is always going to be more popular than who is in office since the mouth-breathers don't really pay any attention outside of that narrow window. Even Newsom might be more popular (outside to California).

Playing off the part you quoted, give the Press three days with everyone paying attention to "the shutdown," and they will be blaming Republican intransigence with 100% surety.

Again, points to how your side double and triples down regardless because it’s win at all costs.

Values!?! Ha!

They started blaming the Republicans a week ago.

Are the 56% of Americans polled that disapprove of Biden’s performance and the 75% of Americans polled that in hindsight approve of Trump’s performance in comparison to Biden’s all Republicans?

Wasn’t saying that? Clearly you don’t get it.,

"They’re just trying humiliate us by showing they fear no consequences for what they’ve done. Poke. It should come as no surprise, as Rasmussen Reports, that “More than two-thirds of U.S. likely voters are worried that their country is turning into a police state and a majority say the FBI is a danger to the freedom and security of law-abiding Americans.”"

That's polling that I think I can understand. Here enumeration is enlightening.

The veil is being pulled away.

I think that's wishful thinking. Most succumb to the constant bombardment of slanted and controlled information and I think the whole Musk incident bears that out with the visceral reaction from the Left that there might actually be fairness and balance in the "free" press.

Biden or whoever is on the D ticket will win

The Republicans will lose the House and Scotus as well

Biden or whoever is on the D ticket will win

The Republicans will lose the House and Scotus as well
And they deserve to lose, just as Lindsey Graham predicted.

I'm not gloating, I actually think it's sad that a major party has sunk to the level where the choice of candidate is either someone that plainly should not be anywhere near politics or someone else who has vowed to support that candidate should he be selected. So only the spineless or hypocrites can apply.

So weird..

I saw a composite average of all polls that shows President Biden has a 45 to 43 lead over the corrupt orange traitor.

🤔

And those numbers have been pretty consistent.

👍

Also:

Young voters don’t answer polls, and they are going to be THE deciding factor in 2024 imho.

The fact that older, more conservative voters are dying off will certainly make a difference as well.

👍

Biden is no worse than any other President. Having lost a step with dementia he is still smarter than trump who is a legend in his own mind. Just ask him.

Trump is pulling a surprising amount of Democrat support away from Biden.
Two issues that could be the dark horses 1. Trump’s adjustments to abortion and 2: NYC is about to blow its top off over illegal migrants incessant consumption of American liberties and social benefits.

We'll see how NYC actually fairs in a little while. The reality is that long term they'll be just fine.
