Honestly I like Mexico. The people are warm and friendly. We spent two weeks there the last time and I wasn't ready to come home.

I am sure Mexico and her people are more than great. My comment was in reference to the "ugly americans" in the comic. Will we every learn?

I thought it was..........I was just making a statement. :) The one thing I noticed was that the people appreciate anyone who makes the smallest effort to speak their language. We made it a habit to greet people in Spanish. I wonder why that doesn't work here?

Yes people do appreciate that attempt. Even if it brings chuckles to both parties. It does break the ice, brings on smiles and that is a good start.

I was in KC visiting a friend from Argentina. People were amazed that I didn't speak Spanish because my first name is Spanish.

When I was in a weekend Master's program, the teacher emailed me for additional information instead of the site coordinator because he thought I was Hispanic. Boy, was he shocked! :D

People do make hysterical assumptions too.
