mh I thought you were to old for that D G OI'm always up for a quickie!

Next year they're going up in September.
haha do you have any Xmas Decorations at all![]()
Good morning to you!
Thank you! Same to you!
Thank you...how are you? How are you healing up?
Today I start my out-patient physical therapy. It wouldn't be so bad had the arm not come off my wheelchair. I've been using my walker for a week. It's doable, but my mind and body weren't ready. Hopefully the therapist will have a suggestion. The hardest thing to do is cook. It was hard in the wheelchair, but sitting on the walker is a whole different experience. The good news is that I haven't fallen again.
That's good. Have you thought of getting your doctor to have a home heaalth nurse come out to you and the PT come to you at your home?
I had a big gulp when I saw the above post...
Happy Thanksgiving D G O
so did you go and celebrate with Family![]()
I had in-home PT and OT for 4 weeks. I don't qualify for free home health care A high school friend knows a guy who does cleaning, so I'm going to contact him to come and do a deep cleaning. I really haven't done one since I did chemo in 2014. Once he's finished, I'll pay someone to do 4 hours a month. The good thing is that they'll take me to my doctor's appointments!
Sometimes I sit and laugh at my predicament. I spilled cereal in the kitchen. It took me an hour to maneuver the vacuum cleaner into the kitchen. Then I had to pull the hose out to get the cereal up. Then there was the time I was stuck on the elevator. The door doesn't always line up with the floor and I didn't know how to get off, so I had to ride back down to the first floor and get the property manager to help me. It was 5 PM and she was on her way home.
Other times I want to cry. I didn't think 70 would come so soon!
I feel your pain. My mom is 81. She can't do half the things she used to, including standing for long periods of time. Stairs are her nemesis...
Happy Thanksgiving to you anyway...
Fortunately I have no stairs. I've seen people in therapy working on stairs and send up a silent prayer for not having any.
At some point we all face limitations as we age. We just have to do what we can as long as we can.
I just wish things were better for all mature adults.

Thank you PJ.
I stayed home alone. I haven't celebrated Thanksgiving with family in more than 20 years. My mother passed away on the Saturday before Thanksgiving in 1991 and I haven't felt the same way since. Plus my son and my brother don't live here.
Until I moved into the new apartment it was me, Macy's parade and a frozen pizza. The new family haul me out to their family's place on holidays now. It's a nice break from all the pizza's but sometimes I miss it. Today the girls are out Black Friday shopping among the crazies in the world. Because I don't shop (really can't afford it physically or financially either) so I got a pass and am home sleeping in and painting some today. Some of the things I am finishing are items they are having me repaint to match the new kitchen make over at their place. It's my version of Christmas all year long for them since I just can't go shop at Christmas.
In the past I've been invited to friends' homes, but always refused. Today is the anniversary of my mother's passing. Because she passed away on a Saturday, a lot of family was in town for the services and we did share dinner. Even then it wasn't a ton of food.
I'm so sorry for her passing & your loss. I hope that someone will haul your butt out soon like they did with me. I wasn't too sure about it in the beginning because I hadn't had any family around me for so many years. It took a year for them to get adjusted to me. I'm not allowed to cook now <sigh> I didn't think I was THAT bad. but ok I can deal with it. They also don't send home left overs so I try to just eat what I miss cooking while there. Yesterday was just a simple butternut squash nuked and scooped out. Squash is hard for me to prep...cut open, scoop out the seeds, slice up /poke with a knife then lift into & out of the microwave or oven.
