DGO's New Unthread!

It got up to 63 today! And it was sunny! I'm so done with cold and snow and ice. I do hope I've seen the very last of it all this winter. Fingers crossed.

Winter hasn't even started yet. I've always thought February was the coldest month.

I was having trouble with my email, so I called AT&T. The tech support woman was giving me directions for the phone. When I told her that I never access my email on the phone and rarely go online on the phone. She was shocked. Why would I use the phone when I have a laptop at home, especially since I'm retired. I have friends who access Facebook at work......when they should be working. As a boss, I'd be pissed.
Hi again:)I do City Truck Delivery and I use my Cell Phone for Work -mostly texting as I couldnt answer the Phone anyway when Iam driving or unloading so I get back to them when ever Iam stopped~ its tempting, but hardly ever use the Cell phone to go on the Net ;)

My sister, who has a 40" television, watches movies on her phone. It's way too small for me. My friends laugh at me because my phone is just a phone. I rarely even take pictures with it. If I think I'll take pictures, I take one of my cameras.

Oh, that's sad. Truly. This January was as cold as I've ever known. Not like Northern Alaska cold, but too cold for this Southern US girl. Once we get through late February, it's usually on to the warm up. Can't come soon enough. Warm weather-wise, that is.

I can take the cold, it's the ice that keeps me inside! Right now Mother Nature must be have cold sweats and hot flashes because every day is different.

Yes, I had a decent week and plan to have another one this week. I think a lot of people do things because they think that's wheat everyone is doing and they want to be a part of the in crowd. I've always been an independent thinker.

Don't let anyone rain on your parade this week.

Wait? There's a parade this week???

I didn't get that memo.

wow! so why shouldnt I stop in ;) you do come to my Thread every now and then and say Hi :)~ anyway have a great Wknd. -are you watching the Super Bowl ?

I might watch it. There was a time when I was an avid fan, but those days are long gone.

Today one of my former students is treating me to The Sound of Music! I taught her and her brother twice, and learned all of the words to every song. It's a favorite of mine and a lot of kids that I taught. One young lady started singing to the elevator music, shocking her 2 little girls!

I've been treated to lunch and dinner several times. What's really special is that a lot of them have kept in touch. Three of my firsties (what I call my first class) met for lunch in Atlanta recently. Two live there and the third in Virginia. They had someone take their picture and told them it was for their kindergarten teacher.

Funny! They thought I was the meanest person on the planet if they didn't behave.

Have a productive week and don't let anyone rain on your parade!

Maybe you were the only one who cared. :rose:

Hope you have a great day. :D

Actually I was the crazy one. I liked to do projects with my students. To do that, they must be good listeners and follow directions the first time. One year (my 4th year teaching) we were reading a story about boat races. That afternoon we walked to the park. I rented canoes and we raced. The kids who were afraid or knew they couldn't swim well enough watched. We walked to the History Museum and the Zoo all the time. One year we rode the public bus and went to see Santa. We spent the entire day downtown. These are things you can't do with "bad" kids.

Yeah, maybe you were the one who cared....:rose:  :rose:

I had a great teacher in 3rd grade (I had her part time in second and first as well).

I have some "learning challenges" (fuckin' stupid people can't keep up with me is my biggest challenge) that were particularly difficult in those grades.
But she didn't care. She figured out to work with me and to get more out of me, and still have fun.
She's the one that told me...figure it out yourself...and I have, for years...

You're that kind. You're the one like that.

 :rose:

My students made me believe that I was the most creative person on earth. This is especially true of the kids at my first and last assignments. My kids were excited about the projects I had them do. They'd even tell me how much fun it was. I think I told you that I followed my 7th graders to the 8th grade on year. Well you can't do some things twice. I decided to have them create magazines around a theme. One group chose AIDS. They were working at 3 of the classroom computers. Every few minutes they'd say, "Ms. Jackson, did you know....." it got to the point that the other groups started reading about AIDS and helping the AIDS group! I talked with 2 young men, now 32 years old, from that class on Facebook today and they mentioned the magazines.
