DGO's New Unthread!

Oh, come on! come by and vent...it always makes me feel better ...:p :p :p :D

I love it when you beg.

I will turn 70 in 2018. There's no question about the fact that 70 is old, elderly even. You have to face the fact that there are more years behind you than in front of you. Oh hell, this is the kind of stuff that drives one crazy. I've been to crazy so I'm not returning.

Two years ago we celebrated our 50th reunion. I think it dawned on many of us that there would be fewer and fewer of us in the years to come. I haven't looked at the pictures on the CD that I purchased. I grabbed one of my band mates to take a picture with me. Harold is still good looking! The one picture I had tried to get at earlier reunions was realized. Everyone calls it 'the 3 Connies'! One friend said that it really illustrates my reunion poem. Connie1 was the best female athlete in the school, perhaps the city. She even coached the granddaughter of a classmate when she was 66! Then there was Connie2, scholar, student council, honor society, and all around nice person. I'm the 3rd Connie. I held the 1st flute chair for 3 years, played in all city band, the children's orchestra, a member of the debate team and a good student.

We're planning a monthly gathering starting soon. We realize our days are numbered and that saddens all of us.

I can see this. I think I sort of understand how you feel. But really, 70 still has a lot in front of it. My parents - who are older than you! - have done more travel and had more fun in the last 10 years than they did, really probably ever before.
They are spending their days on hobbies . They both volunteer in the local school system (as I recall, you have done work with Reading). They both stay active and involved. I think I know you well enough to know that you are that type person.

Keep going. Have fun. Enjoy Life. You can. You will. And you'll be an inspiration to me.

At the very least, be sure to keep giving me crap here because you make me laugh and you make me think and I adore you.

Yes, I'm a retired teacher. Tomorrow I'll start making my valentine's day cards. I goofed up getting my Christmas cards out. Six were really late and to think I started making them in July!

I really enjoy doing exactly what I want to do each day. That's the best part of being retired. I read, watch a little television and make cards. Sometimes I play my flute. I'm trying to get back into the habit of practicing......not just playing songs I like. I know retired people who say they are bored. Not me!

You. Are. THE. Coolest! ;)

but...sorry...I already drank the egg nog...

I didn't get any egg nog this year. I decided to use my sugar numbers on apple pie. LOL I don't push it when it comes to my sugar levels, which is why my meds have been cut in half!

I like it! :rose:

Hope the whole world reads it and abides by it! :D

It would be nice. As far as I know, every religion on earth has a statement that says something like, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". If we could do this, the world would be a wonderful place.

One of my Muslim former students would post the Muslim equivalent to any post I made on Facebook that dealt with Christianity or the Bible. It was remarkable!

We agreed that there are more good people in the world than bad, but the bad get all the press. :D

Love your positive attitude! 70 is just a number! I have known many people in their 90s who are active and vital....who are making meaningful contributions to the world around them. BTW...that could be as simple as having a relationship with your adult child or grandchild or fellow nonagenarian! Continue to do things that you like.

Trust me that I'm thankful to be above ground. I've already lived longer than both my parents. I appreciate life. I'm still working with my former students! My first class was kindergarten and they'll turn 53 this year! The first thing their kids and grandkids say is, "your kindergarten teacher is still alive." We always get a good laugh.

so hows You ?

I'm okay. It's cold here too, but we did have a reprieve. The temperature went from teens to 60's in less than 24 hours. Now it's up to 21. I haven't been out of the building in a week! My sister calls every day and her first words are, "did you get out today?" She's 14 years younger than me so she doesn't understand how a person can stay inside for a week! I have enough food to last a month, so there's no reason to go out.

I was having trouble with my email, so I called AT&T. The tech support woman was giving me directions for the phone. When I told her that I never access my email on the phone and rarely go online on the phone. She was shocked. Why would I use the phone when I have a laptop at home, especially since I'm retired. I have friends who access Facebook at work......when they should be working. As a boss, I'd be pissed.

It got up to 63 today! And it was sunny! I'm so done with cold and snow and ice. I do hope I've seen the very last of it all this winter. Fingers crossed.
