MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minneapolis police Officer Derek Chauvin is making another attempt to overturn his federal civil rights conviction in the 2020 murder of George Floyd, saying new evidence shows that he didn't cause Floyd's death.

In a motion filed in federal court Monday, Chauvin said he never would have pleaded guilty to the charge in 2021 if he had known about the theories of a Kansas forensic pathologist with whom he began corresponding in February. Chauvin is asking the judge who presided over his trial to throw out his conviction and order a new trial, or at least an evidentiary hearing.

Chauvin, who is serving a 21-year sentence at a federal prison in Arizona, filed the request without a lawyer. He says Dr. William Schaetzel, of Topeka, Kansas, told him that he believes Floyd died not from asphyxia from Chauvin’s actions, but from complications of a rare tumor called a paraganglioma that can cause a fatal surge of adrenaline. The pathologist did not examine Floyd’s body but reviewed autopsy reports.

How about this Derek, a little experiment. Ask someone in your cell block to put their knee on your neck for 8 minutes and we will see how it goes. If you live, we will consider your new theory. If not….

No healthy person would’ve died under that situation. Floyd was a POS and you all know it.

Note this new avenue of defence is that Floyd had a rare disorder (tumour) that was the factor, it states nothing below was a contributing factor.

LOL not true, it was on social media, people filmed it and it was disgusting, so if it had been a White guy getting suffocated on by a Black officer it would have landed on the third page....and if it was just a White on White it would have landed after the sport section......gmafb.

Lets completely ignore the fact the Doctor in this case didn't examine the body, was not involved in the autopsies and is basing it upon the reports.

A person can only put just so much poison in their body by which any external event can and will cause catastrophic reactions and results. I always believed that murder charge should be appealed, need to take a second look, at a different venue and under calmer conditions.
