I've been on Depo for a few weeks. I'm wet enough for sex, but I can't feel when I orgasm lately and it's definitely affected life in the bedroom. The man I'm currently seeing has a much higher drive than I do at the moment and it's something he brings up frequently. I've been frustrated about other things and have nearly burst into tears for almost a week now. I rarely cry about anything, but things have hit the fan. I could use some advice.

Some people find depo difficult to deal with. I used to love it. It has, however, put holes in my bones. Did your doctor discuss the new black box warning with you? Much as I loved it, I wouldn't use it. Try something else.

I'd try the nuva ring, and find a new lover (from what you said, he's a jackass-he should be concerned with how you're feeling and what you're going through-most people's sex drives decrease under stress)

I personally loved depo and never had any issues with it.

But like all birth control, it's impossible to predict how your body will react to it. When I tend to take the pill, I fall into major depressive spells.

The nuva ring is inserted once a month, and you remove it to start your period-it secrete hormones. The other thing is if you react badly to it, you can pull it out and the effects go away quickly.

IIRC, there's at least one good thread on Depo in The Blank Manual sticky, so that might be worth checking out.

I've heard too many horror stories to give Depo a try. I had enough side effects with the lowest dose pills to be less than thrilled about ever trying those again. If I did hormonal again, I'd give NuvaRing a shot because I've heard there are fewer side effects and nothing but good things about it. For now, Fertility Awareness and condoms are working well for us, though. :)

I initiated sex earlier this afternoon, which I hadn't done in several days. It felt fine, but alas, no orgasm. He thinks that it's his fault that he can't feel my orgasm(s) each time we have sex, though honestly I have told him that is not the case. I'll talk to him later tonight, again. I did check out the Blank Manual about the different types of BC. I had tried a generic version of a low dosage of the Pill and hated it. The shot's effects won't change until mid February. Some benefits is that I've only gained two pounds, and my skin is a bit clearer. I don't think it's good to keep switching methods so often, but I'd like to find something that works for me.

While it's not a good method for everyone, I've had great success on the no-hormone IUD (copper tip). I'm on year 9, it comes out next year, and birth control pills made my moods swing horrendously. Thankfully, we won't have to use anything after the IUD comes out as he had gotten a vasectomy.

If your family doesn't have a history of ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer, and a few other items I forget right now, you might discuss the various types of IUD with your doc. I've loved mine but the manual to get one was thicker than some small town phone books :D
