I put my stories up on Literotica for review, not for publication. Now I'm having a hell of a time convincing the staff to pull my stories from the site, so that I can publish them elsewhere.

Any ideas, folks?

Laurel gets ridiculous amounts of spam in her e-mail, so that's not the best way to contact her. She must get tons of PMs as well, so don't take it personally if you haven't got an answer, she may just have missed you.

You can either: Keep sending PMs, or, Submit a blank story with instructions to remove all of your stories in the notes box. That way you know she'll actually get the note.

Hope that works, but don't expect instant results, she's a busy kitty.

The Earl

Thank you, darling. I will try that. I've been sending emails.

Best, D

Laurel gets put onto every single mailing list in the history of the owrld due to her position here. The chances of her spotting a legit e-mail are 10000/1.

G-g-gulp! I think I know the answer.

Good Lord, have I been around so long that I actually know something about how things are run?

I know I am treading on Wierd Harold's territory, but I offer this response.

I read a response from Laurel on just such a question a few months ago, and this is the gist of what she said.

Once you have posted a story following the instructions for doing so, Laurel reserves the right to run the story for two years so everyone can enjoy your work. After that she will pull the story if you still wish to.

Fellow authors who post here cannot be described as shy. If I am
incorrect in this, I am sure I will hear about it.

Why not just go ahead and publish them elsewhere? I don't see that there's anything to prevent you from doing that.

Ricochet: I know, it's scary. She asked a question about contacting Laurel and I knew the answer. I know things! :D.

Lit. isn't exclusive, if you want to publish elsewhere, then it shouldn't be a problem (unless the publisher you're selling your story to wants exclusive rights to it).

Suggestion:

- Would be a good idea to have a "Removed Stories Listing" so that persons who are looking for stories and can't find them anymore would know that either the author instructed that their story be removed, published, etc. rather than wondering where the story has gone? (I'm assuming that we don't have one already. If we do, please let me know where it is thanks.) Just a thought. I don't want to make or add too much work for Laurel.

It really CAN be a problem...

Most places want exclusivity, at least during the time that it's live on their publication, and especially if they're an ezine, and even more especially if they're a non-erotic ezine that pays. Most of the more legitimate publications don't want to publish something that can be found on a site like Literotica.

I'm just crossing my fingers that Laurel can do this for me quickly. If not, the other publication may decide not to publish it, and I won't get paid. Plus, they might have a hard time trusting me in the future, which is my fault. I should have remembered that I had posted that story here before I submitted it elsewhere. When I first started out here, though, I thought it was mostly a peer-review kind of place, like a writer's workshop.

Oops.

I gather you reached Laurel (how?) and convinced her to pull your story (how?).

Per The Earl's suggestion, I submitted a 'story' begging for my work to be pulled.
