why is this man even still IN this job?

the "Delivering for America" modernization plan, which was meant to save the agency when it was announced in 2021 but has only seemed to make it less efficient. And despite expecting to break even by 2023, the USPS has since lost a whopping $18.8 billion in the first three years of the plan, including $6.5 billion last year.

"You don't have months to fix 36 percent of mail being delivered on time," Ossoff countered. "I've got constituents with prescriptions that aren't being delivered. I've got constituents who can't pay their rent and their mortgage. I've got businesses who aren't able to ship products or receive supplies."

DeJoy sought to assure the audience that service would improve in the long run with the changes, DeJoy projecting a 60-day timeline to improve services in the area.

"You've got weeks, not months, to fix this," Ossoff said. "If you don't fix it, 36 percent on-time delivery, I don't think you're fit for this job."
he's not, and we've known this for a long time.

My walk to the mailbox was disappointing. I placed mail in the box, raised the flag, and fully expected Federal mail services to be handled properly. My expectations were not met.

The mail carrier didn't take my outgoing mail; instead, the carrier lowered the flag and shoved the new delivery on top of the outgoing bills.

I have never had that happen before, though lately, my mail has been mixed up with addresses on other streets up and down the neighborhood.

Is that part of the new expectations for USPS, come rain, hail, or snow?

U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy has officially postponed his plans for drastically overhauling U.S. Postal Service (USPS) mail sorting operations until 2025, after fierce backlash from postal workers, elected officials and the public.
"In response to the concerns you and your colleagues have expressed, I will commit to pause any implementation of these moves at least until after Jan. 1, 2025,” DeJoy wrote. “Even then, we will not advance these efforts without advising you of our plans to do so, and then only at a moderated pace of implementation.”
"The career workforce will not see layoffs, new equipment will be installed, the facilities will not close, deferred maintenance will be performed and working conditions will be substantially improved," DeJoy wrote.

DeJoy, a longtime Republican donor, was made Postmaster General in 2020 by the USPS Board of Governors (DeJoy serves at the pleasure of the board, not the president). At the time of DeJoy's ascension to the post, Republican-appointed board members had a majority. However, President Joe Biden's appointees now have a one-seat majority, which could grow if USPS board nominee Marty Walsh (the former U.S. Secretary of Labor) is confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Biden nominated Walsh in March.

It absolutely sucks that this one position is so insulated from accountability and concrete consequences.

I think government postal services the world over are declining drastically. I would think that a postal services main revenue used to be stamps and now in today's world that is all but extinct. Not sure how they can survive unless they start to compete directly with the courier companies. I actually wonder if those avid stamp collectors of the past are sitting on a goldmine or a worthless pile of bygones.

Understand the Post Office is the employer of last resort in the federal government. They have a hard-working core group of employees who are surrounded by a crowd of lazy, unmanageable, incompetent bum fucks, who can't find their ass with both hands. None of whom can be fired.

Thanks for agreeing it's problematic to get rid of DeJoy

DeJoy, installed by trump to destroy the postal system. Stamp prices have gone up five times since DeJoy was installed.
