I think loonier than he is are the board Trumpettes and others who pretend to believe him and push his inanity on the rest of us.

It makes sense from Trump's point of view. The action itself will not even begin to get off the ground, BUT: the appeal to his supporters for funds to finance the action will probably divert more $ Trump's way. I have also looked at some of his prior fundraising activities and suspect that some of those funds will be diverted to supporting this action. That means in reality the funds will be used to pay various Trump entities charged with providing various services to manage this litigation.

Trump can't win. Not because his claim doesn't have merit, but because the politics of the nation have poisoned the judicial well against him. There is no unbiased jury pool nor a neutral court within which his claims for harm and wrongdoing can be heard.

He won't win because he can't prove the claim. That's fine though, because he didn't file the suit to win. He filed it for marketing/campaign purposes.
