Decadents and Dropouts IC

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor had finished preparing his alarm and wards and guards spells. The spells would alert him to trespasser and other threats should they arrive on the boat, or near it.

Trunfor felt fatigued form his lack of rest and spellcasting. He needed so rest or something to help him calm down. Making sure that his spells were operating correctly, Trunfor closed his eyes and calmed his mind so as to prepare his spellcasting capabilities for the next day.

Naunet

"Wow! The smallish quiet man did it!" Naunet exclaimed joyously, clapping her hands together excitedly. She turned to address him forwardly but found he had made an escape, where to, she wasn't sure. The Sea Ghost picked up her set of keys and the patter of her feet took her to the now awakened creature she had fished from the water. He looked a lot better now that he wasn't all gross, and she knelt beside him, eying his form with some level of curiosity equal to that of a cat. "Smallish quiet man has magic fingers. He poked you in the eye and you... did all this." She pointed to his form and circled her finger up and down from his head to his feet. "Next time though, try for a goldfish-- NO! A squidy! They are so much cuter!"

Naunet bit her lip, that was very insulting. "Not that you don't look fine like this, you know. You could just have much more fun if you had more than two arms." She sat cross legged, the ring of keys now around her wrist like a bracelet, swinging wildly every time she animated her arm. Reaching for his hand, Naunet observed the back and front before reaching across for the other. No fins of any kind, that was a real bummer. "You aren't a water dweller, but I can forgive you for that. Are you feeling better, now that you aren't falling on innocent swimmers and looking like Death?"

Just to be certain, Naunet reached for Z's eye and poked the lid, hoping that maybe she too could get this strange creature to transform into something different. When nothing happened, she shrugged as her head came to rest in her hands. "My name is Naunet. What's yours?" She asked sweetly. In her head she hoped that it was Coral. That would be a nice name....

-Z-

Z still couldn't quite make out who was around him, or where exactly he was. Evidence pointed to him being on a boat, but who's boat was the question. Before he had time for his vision to focus, he was assaulted by a bubbly female's voice. Smallish quiet man with magic fingers? Wait..who poked him in the eye and why?

The barrage of odd questions and the shock of waking up in unfamiliar surroundings was making it hard for Z to focus. He wasn't entirely sure what happened prior to him getting knocked out. There was a face, an angry face filled with nothing but hatred for him. Maralai. The first thing in Z's head was an image of Maralai, the beautiful elven druid who was one of the heroes responsible for the destruction of the Cabal. The destruction of the Magister. The destruction of Z's family. That wasn't who had attacked Z on the docks, though. No, it was not the heroic ranger, it was the genocidal huntress, the leader of the White Stags. Z noticed that first of all, he wasn't dead, and second of all he wasn't restrained. He could only assume that he wasn't captured. That it wasn't a familiar voice that greeted him made him worry. He wanted Phyliss, Trunfor, and Gryph to all get away from the hunters.

The poke to his eye focused Z. He blindly swatted whoever was trying to poke him away from his face. He was finally able to get his vision focused, and found a smiling creature looking at him. "Well...um, Naunet. You can call me Z. You are certainly the...um, most pleasant thing I've seen after waking up."

Z looked around, and finally saw that the boat was stationary on the side of the river. He hadn't seen anything quite like this...Naunet. Vaguely similar to a sea-elf, but not quite like that. A rather large figure was leaning over the side of the boat.

"Gryph? I really hope that large and intimidating figure over there is you." Z turned back to Naunet and smiled the best he could. "Um..yes, I...seem to be feeling...well enough. Could you, possibly, perhaps....tell me where I am and what happened? I was on a dock earlier and I...seem to have had clothes earlier as well."

Nudity was not that big of a deal to doppelgangers. It wasn't like that naked body was their real body. Of course, once Z realized that the girl named Naunet was also naked, he felt a little less worried that he might be in a socially awkward situation.

Naunet

The gentle Sea Ghost giggled and pointed over to where his clothes lay soaked and discarded. "You mean those clothes?" She asked, now glaring at them as if they had committed some mortal sin. "I took them off of you, you were really, really cold. You land creatures and your temperatures...." Naunet shook her head and placed her hand on his forehead, the fever was turning. It was a good sign. "You do not have the fever as you once did. You can thank me later." With care she tucked the blanket around the parts of his hips that were exposed to the night air when he sat up, keeping his temperature to at least somewhere in the warm. Lord only knows how much the land people loved their precious warmth.

Naunet struggled with the memory of their encounter. The events were simple, one minute she was swimming peacefully in calm waters, the next there were explosions, bright lights and a really heavy body making her breaststroke look like a flopping piece of seaweed. "It's nice to meet you Z. That's a strange name. But then again, you are all kind of strange to me. It's hard to trust anything without gills. But you seem nice enough." Naunet watched him give his surroundings a quick spy. He had been unconscious for quite some time, it was only natural to be wary of your current location. Why keep him in the dark?

"You must have got hurt in the bright flashy lights on land. Because you fell into the water after the bright lights. Luckily, you had little ole' me around to make sure you didn't drown. Though I would ask that you not fall on top of me next time. If you want help, you need only ask. You have quite a way of getting my attention."
She took a breath, the pale color of her hair now flickering in the light breeze, she was completely dry. Sea Ghosts usually did dry a lot faster than land people, for her skin absorbed the water to keep her hydrated. She would need a quick dip sooner or later. For now she was content.

"Now you are safely aboard the snake lady and smallish quiet man's ship. Also fraidy cat man, winged man and Gryph." She pointed towards the reincarnation of Lord Triton, leaning in to Z she whispered. "Don't tell him, but I think he is the embodiment of a God. He just doesn't know it yet. Us Sea Folk are very modest. Except those stupid vain half fish. But anything that wears that much starfish on their bosoms has got to be evil."

Relic

The bear had interrupted the transfer of the barbarian to Phyliss and her friends. Relic had little use for him alive and pondered whether to simply behead him (since it was much easier to carry around) and go meet them. Although the swim to the ship wasn't something she looked forwards to. Maybe she would find some tall trees and swing across.

Glancing out at the cog after gathering the reins of the horse Haerdon was still tied to, if not now conscious enough to realize his predicament, Relic could make out Gryph on guard. He looked out over the river, keeping watch on the bank. He seemed to have that rigid stance, perhaps he pondered something serious?

She hadn't a chance to confirm the trap for Haerdon with him back at the tavern. Hopefully he might see her side of the idea, of keeping the man close, rather than letting him wander free. She had assumed he had a similar idea in mind, to rid the group of the foul human once and for all.

What fun Relic had on the side with her quarry was not of their concern. Only the results.

Her mind wandered to Zahn, she had known what had happened to him after setting the distraction on the docks. But there was an interesting charm he had that made her hope he came out of the situation with the upper hand.

Phyliss would be like her normal self. And would probably order Relic attacked at the first sign of her. She wasn't useful enough in the group so far to take on the trouble. But still Relic was drawn back to them. Since meeting the group, she had enjoyed her time much more than simple thieving and playing around. Everyone had some sort of character she liked to be around. Even if she was still a childish nuisance.

It was when the cog turned a corner in the river than they would see the drow again. This time the horse was tied up, and Haerdon was wiggling in the sand still tied up at Relics feet. Hopefully the bear would mind its own business for this second attempt.

Hopefully only one person would venture out. And Relic to simply hand over the barbarian...risk free (as long as they kept him tied up before disposing of him how saw felt fit). Part of her wanted to be accepted into the group, the other part told her to abandon that hope and simply rejoin the guild. But gathering gold and silver, jewels and gems, and assorted treasures for years on years was boring. She had enough wealth to buy plenty of land and assets. All stowed away. She didn't have any use for it yet, it was more just her instinctual need to gather and steal that resulted in her slowly filling her hiding places.

She had lit a small fire, to show she was no longer trying to hide. It was also an old symbol for conversation. To invite someone in to talk. A peace of sorts. Whether for trading, or just catching up. Hers was a bit of both.

Gryph

He silently listened to the conversation that Naunet had engaged in and when Z asked if it was him standing there he answered an affirmative. Realizing that even through all that happened Z's clothing was still wet and he was still naked, Gryph picked up the clothes, using a rope he tied a type of clothing line from the mast to the rail. Then he hanged the clothing over the rope, using his water magic and focusing on the clothing and only the clothing he drew the moisture from them. It resulted in him holding a ball of water in one hand, he flicked that back into the river, the clothes was now dry, but cold. Touching the fabrics he estimated the heat he would need and using his fire magic he drew heat from the lanterns and into the clothing, soon they were warm and dry.

"Z you're clothes is...ready."

He stepped back to his observation spot and noticed the light of a fire up ahead, clearly it was a sign that there was somebody and that person or persons had no intention to hide. He could sense the fiend's magic surrounding the cog, so he was sure that he would raise the alarm if anybody happened to venture too close.

"I'm heading out for a bit, I have noticed a fire and just want to check it out."

Hefting his sword he debarked the cog and headed for the light, it wasn't long when he stepped into the clearing to find Relic and the tied up barbarian.

"Imagine that. A drow and a barbarian, seems like you had some..****."

His eyes of course had picked up the signs of rough removal on her clothing, but he stayed alert as this could be a trap.

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss turned around in her bed in the sleep. Nobody had woken her yet, soeverything seemed to be allrigt. She did not her the slight snorting of Skandölf in the bow, nor did she hear the conversation on deck or Grypg, who was climbing down the cog to go ashore.

Opening his eyes, Trunfor looks around and sighed in relaxation. He had managed to get a few hours of sleep and had refreshed his mind for his spellcasting. He sensed that his spells were still up and had been uninterrupted and were still operational.

He grabbed his spellbook and began reading over it for the spell he wanted to prepare for today.

Phyliss Ovida

The corner in the cargoroom was dark, so she could not tell if it was still night as she woke. But she heard Skandölf climbing up the ladder to the deck, and this was the sound that awoke her. She looked around, and saw none of her friends. Where they up already, or had something happened while she was asleep? She listened, and heard the clacking sound of clawed feet, so Tronfur was up there. Then she heard the staggering steps of Skandölf. He would have alarmed her if anything went wrong. She got up, stripped and washed herself with the washingbowl under deck. Later there might be time to use the bigger tub on the deck for a full bath. She put on some lingerie and finished her usual task of make-up, that she coul do in an incredible speed by now. Then she opened her bag with clothes. There was enough room for one or two trunks to collect some more clothes; just perfect. She browsed through her dresses and listened what was going on above her.

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor closed his spellbook and put it away in his bag, then he pulled out his journal and wrote down a few notes on the recent happenings on what had happened to Z, meeting Relic and Haedron, and meeting the new "Water Creature" being.

As he finished, he put it away then looked around. Now what?

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss took a dark green dress and a long shal of black sheer, which was long enough to hang down on the floor, even as it was wrapped around her both wrists. She completed the outfit with black velour boots and climbed up the ladder. Z was still lying on deck, looking better now, but still sick. Colin and Skandölf were already doing some casual work. She could see Tronfur, who just put his journal into his bag. She could not see Naunet, Gryph or Tonfur around. She frowned and asked the human, who said that he had seen Tronfur below the deck.

Trunfor Blackheart

Hearing footsteps, Trunfor looked up and saw Phyliss walking towards him.

"Oh.. hey Phyliss, it's good to see you."

He smiled up at her and got up to from his sitting position, "I just finished preparing my spells for the day. Don't want to get caught unprepared if we're attacked again."

He stared at her curiously, "Do you need something?"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss looked around. "I would like to set sails again. I think we just let Zaehn sleeping. But where is Gryph?"

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor shrugged and looked around the ship, "Who knows where Gryph is. And as for Zaehn, well, it'll take a while for him to recover. As for when we set sail? I have no idea, I haven't asked the crew. I think there afraid of me, and I don't want to scare them, that's why I'm staying down here."

Sighing, Trunfor looked back at Phyliss, "But I'm guessing that's not the reason you came over here to talk to me, right? Do you need help with anything or want to discuss something?"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss sat down in opposite to Tronfur, but quiet close. She smiled warmly.
"You are not in a good mood today. Why? I think Zaehn will recover, that is just fine. And we do sail when we want to sail. It is our cog, after all. And don't mind the crew. You had saved old Skandölf; and I don't think he is afraid of anything or anyone of us, except the watercreature, and it has left again. And he came down after he found she was rather harmless. And the dumb dwarf... I don't think he fears you as well. And certainly I don't fear you, nor does Gryph. Still..." she looked over to the bench, but she couldn't see the large halfdragon in the forrest. "If he just went to have a pee... But still, I am a little worried about our enemies. They could simply trick him. He is as well natured like you are."
Phyliss looked around in the dark cargo room. "But now, I will go up on deck, to see the sun, to be in the light. And you must come with me. Will you?" she reached for his hand.

Relic

By now the fire had started to grow low, and tossing a few more sticks into it Relic yawned. It had been several hours and for her, and that was a mighty task in itself to stay seated and still for that long. Between the quiet flow of water that rushed past the bank of the river, and the creatures of the dawn and crackling of the fire it was difficult to feel alone. It wasn't too long after restoking the fire before Relics ears perked up. The quiet sound of careful footsteps in sand moving towards her position, Relic had a visitor.

When she saw that it was Gryph, part of her was worried that his size might be a problem if anything occured. But she could always run, and hide well. But even then, he would probably smell her if she hid close by. So avoiding conflict was high up on her list of priorities. But on the other side she was happy to see him, his centered personality, calmness and quietness for the most part seemed to suit her well. Plus he was as handsome as any man she had seen, in his own way. With Gryph she didn't wonder why Phyliss felt so safe. Relic was a little jealous of that.

"It's good to see you again, Gryph. Or should I say, Sir Drake?" Relic smiled brightly as she remembered his ploy in the tavern. Perhaps she saw further into the future in terms of plans than Gryph had, or perhaps they had thought the exact same thing. Either way, whether she could convince him that it was truly just a plan to get rid of the barbarian (and take his coin) was to be decided.

"And fun is always had, if I can help it."

Poking the fire a few times with a stick, she soon tossed it onto the flames and settled back. Sitting at the fire with her legs crossed under her, she stretched back and rested on her extended arms. Watching him closely.

"How is Zahn? Did he get away?" Her question was one of curious worry, or so she told herself. But she was still unsure if the rest of the gang knew he was also the merchant. So it was more complicated than a simple friendly interest.

Soon she thought it best to get to more pertinent business. And stood up. Slowly walking towards Gryph, she held her hands out so he could see them.

"You know as well as I do that this barbarian wouldn't let Phyliss go. Or suspected as much I hope. I simply continued the process from the tavern, and found out that even after I offered another gorgon who by description was much more useful and gorgeous, and myself to top off the bargain that he hardly flinched before declaring that Phyliss was his ultimate reward. I believe that he would never truly give up following her, and that one day just by chance he may succeed."

"Putting everyone in danger, not just Phyliss. And I have lethal poisons and potions to use if what I say is a lie, I used what I thought was the least invasive, but still believable."

Stopping just a few feet away, Relic waved her hand towards the tied up barbarian.

"Personally I wanted to just bring his head for Phyliss, but if she is anything like me...which I doubt, then she'll want to do it, not have someone else take her kill. But...I have a feeling you would also enjoy taking the kill, after all he's done, and said he would do to Phyliss. Maybe you could take the head back."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor looked at Phyliss`s extended hand and smiled. His oath bond him to follow her commands, "I will follow." he said, taking her hand and getting up from the floor.

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss walked up on deck again, gently pulling Tronfur along. She looked around. Colin and Skandölf were working something on the sails and were to concentrated on theri work do to anything. Phyliss looked at Zaehn, and found him sleeping peacefully. Gryph was not to be seen, although the sun was up now. She walked up the stairs to the elevated aft with the steering wheel, still holding Tronfur on the hand.

Trunfor Blackheart

"Where exactly are we going or doing Phyliss?" Trunfor asked as she lead him along the top deck of the ship.

Phyliss Ovida

The gorgon sat down at the railing of the empty aft. "In future? Or do you mean now?" She laughed. "In both cases, I do not know."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor smiled again. "Oh... ok. So why are we up here? Do you need help with something like finding out where Gryph is, because I`m pretty sure he`ll turn up sooner or later."

Phyliss Ovida
Phyliss looked over to the shore.
"I am a bit worried about Gryph indeed. But he is quite capable of defending himself, and if he run in trouble, and we would probably see a blaze of fire. I think we wait a little, and if he will not return, we must search for him. But I think I will give him some time." she smiled. "Maybe he needed some privacy? Who knows." She put her hands on Tronfurs shoulders and looked upt to him, while she sat of the high railing of the aft. "But maybe you like to talk with something about me?"

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor agreed with her about Gryph. He sighed in content as he felt Phyliss`s hands on his shoulder, "Well... what do you want to take about?"

Phyliss Ovida

Phyliss giggled. "I thought you might to talk with me alone. Colin and Skandölf are busy with the sale and ropes, Zaehn is asleep and Gryph went for a walk. Naunet is gone. So we are all alone up here." she looked around, but kept her hand on his shoulders. "Maybe, you have thoughts about me you didn't dare to tell yet."

Trunfor Blackheart

Trunfor grinned blushing at Phyliss`s words, "Umm... well my journal had most of my feeling recorded in it, and as for how I feel towards you.. well I care deeply about you and whenever I think of you or see you, I have this strange feeling."

He paused for a moment, then continued, "I something like an obsession, except stronger, almost like a fevered madness. I`ve never felt this before about anyone."
