Death Star

Talek Halcyon

I felt the force tell me I was going to be attacked through it just before I was hit by the force attack, however that didn't prepare me for the full agony and pain of the attack. I held my ground for the few moments as I suffered under the attack, my master's voice ringing in my head, "concentrate and let the force protect you, aborb it!!!" It brought me back to training, the pain, the agony, and then the pain mostly went away as I finally managed to absorb the energy. A few moments later, and through the clarity I could sense that I was being lifted, by the force, I thought. I can't deal with this . . . or . . . yes I can!!

I concentrated on the force again, the extra force energy that I absorbed was starting to bleed out, and I had to do something with it. I looked around, and before I could make a decision I was thrown back. I realized I had to stop it, so I used the extra energy I had gotten, yet it still wasn't enough to stop me from moving back. I could feel that I slowed down, however only slightly, which didn't help. Pulling my arms back I hoped to lessen the impact by using my blades as shock absorbers. The impact still hurt, but I mostly felt it through my hands, then felt it through my back. Gasping, I looked at the Sith with pure hate, and rage, I had to get revenge for this. However I was tired and deactivated my blades which dropped me to the ground. Landing on my feet, I felt my legs crunch more than they should've the impact on the floor seemed to be more jarring then when I hit the wall, which disturbed me.

I let my feet out from under me and sat with my back against the wall, I punched the ground, and looked up, too tired to deal with the pain that racked my body, yet I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with it. I closed my eyes and saw my master as he died. The physical pain I felt, mirrored the pain that I felt in my heart. I then looked down at my legs, and thought wistfully: I wonder what dad would say now . . . he wasn't too happy about me coming out here to start with . . . Feeling a sense of resolve I tightened my grip on my hilts and promised myself that I'd pass the trials and that I'd kill that Sith, sighing I thought, if I can . . .

Zeram finished the start up routines for his ship as quickly as he could, bypassing the Republic's security with a special access code his master had provided. As the powerful repulsor engines fired to life, and the shuttle lifted up off the flightdeck and began heading skyward, Zeram felt a slight twinge in the back of his mind.

Anger, hate and frustration.

The feelings were all coming from back in the hanger. But Qui-Gon was far too controlled for such outbursts of raw emotion...the Padawan perhaps?

The Sith's lips curled into a smile as the stars stretched into lines, his ship jumping into Hyperspace. Perhaps there were other Jedi who were not fooled by the arrogance of the council. Perhaps there were others who could be used to bring the corruption of the Jedi to an end.

And perhaps there was at least one other who was not afraid to defy the rules, and find his own way through the Force.

Master Jinn watched Zeram depart fully before he moved to assist the young Jedi. It certainly not do to have Zeram return all too soon.

"Your courage is not in doubt, young one, but your judgement just might be," Qui-Gon gently told the young man as he probed him with the Force for injuries. He was not injured seriously, fortunately, but he would need some time for rest and recuperation.

Qui-Gon looked to Rose.

"Are you all right?" he asked her.

I looked up at Master Qui'gon, the weight of failure full on my head, I merely said "I'm sorry, master." I didn't think I could muster anything else, I clipped my weapons to my belt and looked on pensively at where the ship had exited. "Master Taree died not too long ago . . . I haven't had much guidance in the past few days, other than the force. I'm sorry for interfering." I said somewhat sadly, as I got myself to my feet.

"Let not your heart be troubled, young one," Qui-Gon said, helping the young man up. "You are brave, and you are to be commended for that. What is your name?"

Talek Halcyon

I looked at Master Quigon for a moment, somewhat surprised that he'd ask my name "I am Padawan Learner Talek Halcyon, from Corellia, Master Qui'gon." I bowed to him.

Qui-Gon to Telek & Rose.

"Well, Padawan Telek Halcyon, I think it is time that we alert the Jedi Council of what has transpired," Qui-Gon said, resting a hand upon the young man's shoulder and guiding him away, towards Rose who waited anxiously and patiently through the short engagement.

"You are well, Rose?" Qui-Gon asked, knowing the answer but being polite nonetheless. "Come, I think it time we step further into the Temple..."

"Good form... good form Talek Halcyon," The Senator cut the distance between them with each step, his dark robes flowing around him as he did so. He, along with several others had been watching from afar.

"I could not believe such young padawan's could even rise up to the challenge of fighting such a foe as that. Yet you are here still. It gives me great pride in the new stock of jedi they are training here. I was just saying the same thing to Anakin before all the fighting broke out."

He was on the young padawan's other side, helping to sift some of the weight. Despite his age, he was strong, and could help the poor lad as good as anyone else.

He stopped them, bending down to pick up the padawan's light saber.

"No warrior should be without his weapon," Smiling, Palpatine handed Talek the saber.

Qui-Gon to Palpatine.

OOC - Hmmm, I seem to recall some canon notation about Palpatine/Sidious telling Maul that he could hide his presence from the Jedi anywhere in the galaxy except from inside the Jedi Temple. But, then again, we're not exactly canon, are we? That or I have my locations for the current characters completely out of whack.

Qui-Gon nodded to Palpatine. He supposed that Talek had dropped more weapons than Qui-Gon had thought.

"He is young, but he has learned much," he agreed. There was something about Palpatine... It's probably nothing, Qui-Gon thought to himself. "The Sith are rarely anything less than formidable opponents."

I nodded to Master Qui'gon, the council should be informed right away "Yes, Master," I said to him, as we approached the young lady. As the Senator came over, I eyed him, wondering what he was doing here, but kept my thoughts to myself. I said "thank you, I must have dropped it." Drawing on the force, as I was taught so many years ago, to fade away the pains. I nodded to Senator Palpatine, "thank you Senator," as he helped support me, "but I do not need help, I am a Jedi in training after all." I blinked as the Senator handed me an extra lightsaber. I said "oh, thank you, I must have dropped it." I picked up the saber, I knew it wasn't mine the moment I touched it. I covered my surprise by turning away "I'm sorry, I forgot about my cloak," and walked over to pick up my cloak.

As I walked over to pick up my cloak, I heard their exchange, it still disturbed me. Why would the senator have a lightsaber? More curious, why would he hand me one. I filed it in my head to bring it up to either Master Qui'gon or Master Yoda later, when we would report to the council.

I donned my cloak and clipped the third lightsaber to my belt, covering it to make sure noone saw it for now. I walked back to hear Master Qui'gon saying something about Sith being formidable. I looked up at Master Qui'gon "Master Qui'gon, I believe we have some business needing to be attended to." I nodded to the young lady and the Senator.

Ooc: Yeah, you got me on that. I've seen the movies, but I only have a passing knowledge of that sort of thing. Apparently, Sidious can hide himself anywhere.

And, come on guys, I know I'm the bad guy here, but we don't need to have everyone pointing fingers right from the start? You saw him pick up a light saber from the ground, how could it be his? Half of the fun is he's the bad guy, and no one has a clue...

But, I can't role play for you, do what you will.

"Yes, he seemed to be very skillfull. I wonder what he was here for... I thought Sith took pride in hiding themselves. It is either very brave of him to show himself, or very stupid."

He could see the young padawan already felt better, getting up and walking back. A fit of health once more, the senator nodded at that. He would never cease to be amased at what the jedi used their skills on.

"The Jedi Council? Oh good, I was hoping for an escort. I had come here to talk to them, but unfortunately had gotten side tracked. With Sith on the loose, perhaps it is best if I do not go alone. May I join you?"

Qui-Gon to a bunch of people. ^_^

OOC - sorry 'bout that. I just enjoy writing things about heroes completely dismissing people who the audience knows are in all actuality incredible villans.

"We would be honored if you would join us, Senator," Qui-Gon said with a bow of his head. He placed a steadying hand upon the masterless padawan's shoulders and looked back to Rose. "Come, let us go alert the Council to recent developments, and of course bring attention to your agenda."

She watched all that was going on, because she wasn't a Jedi she didn't feel like she belonged. "You sure I belong in the temple?" She looked down "Im not a Jedi and I know the rules here, im just an out cast"

"You are not an outcast, Rose," Qui-Gon said, sounding gentle, firm, and comforting all at once, as only a compassionate Jedi Master could. He smiled at her. "You are certainly welcome here in the Temple. And our illustrious Senator is not a Jedi yet is inside the Temple. True he has Republic business no doubt to bring to the attention to the Council, but his is a special case, as is yours."

She looked at him and didn't fight him, she sighed some closing her eyes she started to think a couple things and just nodded. "Yeah well he is a senator and important, im a civilian, nothing more"

"Nonsense, Rose. We are all important. You feel the touch of the Force, the whisper of it in your soul - that makes you more important than most Senators who merely look to the most expeditious way of lining their own pockets." Qui-Gon touched Rose' shoulder. "You are vitally important, anyone with the Force can see that."

OOC - No, no, I'm not making him uber, I promise. Just a little encouragement.

She felt his hand on her shoulder and she smiled happily "Thanks Master Jinn" She walked beside him, having a bad feeling that something was going to happen, but of course she said nothing, a kind smile was seen on her face as she put her hands in her pockets, unsure of what was going to happen.

I nodded to Master Qui'gon. Walking back in the temple, I felt pretty bad. I wanted to hide, so I simply withdrew from the force, and pretended that nothing had happened. Although the extra lightsaber did bother me, it was an unfamiliar weight at my side, and also had a force presence that was unfamiliar to me. Hopefully someone on the council will know. I operated the lift controls to take us to the council entrance.

Then approaching the council doors, I sent out a message through the force, giving the council members inside, the message impressions of Master Qui'gon, urgent, and business. I stood outside, hoping that they would understand, after all, there was the Senator and the young lady, Rose. I probed her with the force, interesting, yet sensitive, untrained. That reminded me of my master again, and the gruesome training I had gone through. I remember him training me to fly in the winds of Iktotch. I missed Master Taree. Sighing I sat down and put my durindfire hilt in my lap and fell into a trance, hiding myself from the universe and trying to find answers to my confusions as we waited for the council to recieve us.

Qui-Gon to Jedi Council. Jedi Council to Everyone.

OOC - I decided to take the initiative, Mayu, and post for the Jedi Council to get things rolling... If this isn't satisfactory, just let me know and I'll edit / delete this....

OOC 2 - Sorry Donalddeutsch, but I assumed a few sentences of dialogue from Yoda to get things moving...

The Jedi Council received Senator Palpatine, Master Jinn, Padawan Halcyon, and Rose much sooner than Jinn had expected. They were, after all, bureaucrats of a sort themselves, and could not possibly be rushed - that was Qui-Gon's experience at least. His one-time Padawan, now Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi had reproached him once for his constant defiance of the Jedi Council, telling him that if he would have been on the Council already had he not been so stubborn and intractable in his disagreements.

Truth be told, Qui-Gon was not eager in the least in becoming a member of the Council. He would be all the more constrained in his actions were he there - much less time in the field, in "the real galaxy" rather than the ivory towers of the Temple. There he could serve the Living Force rather than do whatever it was the Jedi Council really did behind closed doors.

What did they do, anyway? Play sabacc? Watch the holo?

Qui-Gon faced the masters without apprehension or concern, as he always did, which he was sure irked some of them, Yoda as well, he had no doubt. He gave them a concise series of events of what transpired, delivering the news of the arrival of another Sith with the same words that he had used years earlier upon his return from Tattooine.

"My only conclusion is that he is a Sith Lord... It is also my belief that this Sith Lord is the apprentice," he said, going on to explain why before adding that Darth Zeram might well have been a one-time padawan at the Temple.

Master Yoda frowned. "Many Padawans we have lost over the years. Remember you must, lies and creating mistrust are the ways of the Sith."

"I agree Master Yoda. I also know that the truth can be as devastating as any carefully crafted lie," Master Jinn pointed out.

"Were the Republic to discover that one of our own had fallen to the Dark Side, the results could be quite unfortunate," Master Billaba pointed out, looking at her one-time master, Master Windu.

"I agree," the Korun master nodded and looked to Senator Palpatine. "Senator, I must ask you to keep what you have heard here secret, the truth must be discovered."

[[[insert Palpatine Thingie]]]

"Padawan Halcyon, do you have anything to add?" Master Windu asked.

[[[insert Halcyon thingie]]]

"Rose, is there anything you would like to tell us?" Master Gallia inquired, giving the young woman a sympathetic expression.

She looked down, she did not belong here, when she was asked if there was anything she wanted to say, this was her future, if she didn't say anything no one would ever. She removed the hood that she had on, she removed it as she took her hands removing her brown hair, when she looked up she had a very innocent look. Her hair was shorter, it was almost shoulder length and her bangs were hugging the sides of her face. "All my life ive never fit in, all my life ive been able to use the force to do my bidding" She looked right at the counsel. "My parents wouldn't let you take me, what they did instead was to treat me like a slave" She removed her cape, her arms were scratched up, wounds her parents gave her.

"If it wasn't for Master Jinn and Anakin Skywalkers friendship my heart would have gone to the darkness, I want to be trained as a Jedi, to be given the opportunity to show you what I can do, I know the rules about the Jedi, Anakin was given a chance and I want one to" She heard gasping of people around her, she was bold to say such things but she didn't care. "All my life ive wanted to fit in and this, is my calling"

Jedi Council to Rose.

Qui-Gon's eyes flicked over to Rose as the Council seemed to collectively give a silent groan that said, to Qui-Gon at least: "Great, he's brought us another one, and this one is even older than the dust farmer!"

"More than a decade ago, the Council allowed, with a great deal of reservation to allow the training of a non-infant child," Master Windu said. "A child proficied to be the 'Chosen One' of the prophecy."

"The Jedi have existed and endured for a thousand generations because of the strength of our traditions," Master Plo Koon added. "Millennia ago, during the dark times, we once agreed to let young children be trained, teenagers, even adults. Many, so many turned to the Dark Side."

She looked at them "Then I will make you listen" She looked over, she made a gesture with her hand as a staff was seen in her hand.

She walked on over to the big pool of water that had flowers in it, she took her shoes off and began to walk on it, but instead of sinking she walked right on it. She took a deep breath as she held the staff in her hand looking at everyone. Taking a deep breath she took her and twirled around half way, and it met the water, moving it gracefully with her hands. As she put the staff over her head with both hands and leaned back wards putting the staff down, and pretty soon around her feet the force could be seen and the fire around the room turned pure blue.

Bending down as she slowly stood up twirling the staff, as she turned the water she was on show her up in the air higher, holding her up like a fountain, twirling around as the force over flowed, she was showing them her power. She put her staff to her side facing down, as the water fell down and she didn't move.

Council to Rose

The display left the Masters speechless.

"The Force is but a river, and there are many different ways of recieving and perceiving the Force," Master Jinn said, breaking the silence. He was certainly one of the ones taken aback by the display.

Had it all been an illusion? A trick of the mind potent enough to convince Masters Windu, Yoda, and the rest of the Council of what they had seen?

No, no it was not. The remaining water was proof positive of that - what, what had happened?

Was Rose stupendously powerful in the Force, did she create the water or did she draw the water from some other place in time and space?

"You are quite skilled already in the ways of the Force, you wish to become a Jedi because you wish to help others?" Master Billaba inquired with some disbelief.

"Or is it because you wish to learn to do battle," Master Windu said.

She looked at them she walked over to them, she was weak but refused to fall. "I want to learn how to battle, to protect the innocents that do not have the power to protect themselves and there family's, ive always been selfless, ive been able to help people, but only in a small part, I wish to do more with my life, to protect"

"Surely you can protect others with what you know," Master Yaddle ventured.

"We are not a school that can open its doors to accept all comers," Master Plo Koon said. "We cannot help you. The Force will provide."

Master Windu looked the least sympathetic amongst them, and Adi Gallia appeared a statue for all the warmth she showed.
