My late aunt was a farm based Cheesemaker for nearly 70 years. Extra, extra mature, Double Gloucester, Cheddar, and occasionally single Gloucester were her products. She is now in heaven awaiting certain beatification.

Thundery weather upsets cows and they then produce milk with all sorts of nasty hormones for a day or two. It makes unsaleable, very acid cheese which she used to send to the Kraft factory where they do unspeakable things to it and call it a 'spread.'

On a different note, a few years ago I had to travel to the USA to let some 20 people go in our small firm. 1 kg of Cadbury's Dairy milk apiece to those remaining resolved any conflict of loyalty issues.

American Chocolate would be much better if the regulators hadn't defined the allowable oil to be used around corn oil at the behest of the farming lobby. Corn oil is disgusting, not as bad as Palm oil, but its obligatory use in many manufactured food products is a crime against humanity.

Perhaps that most "muricans' associate chocolate with MILK chocolate. REAL chocolate is dark, has a much better, rich taste, and anyway, is better for you.

It is lovely, and popping them out of the plastic tray is strangely therapeutic.

I love Lindt chocolate, especially the Lindor Chocolate Balls. Lily O'Brien choc is good too. Hotel Chocolat is big over here now but it's a bit too fussy, like Ben & Jerry's ice cream there's far too much going on in there.

Gimme a good old fashioned Flake anytime though.
