I have, for many years, made cruel remarks about the vaguely dairy related atrocities you call cheese. However, this morning I read this, and so it appears I will have to cease. I am not too stubborn to amend my behaviour once I discover it is no longer appropriate.

Your chocolate is still shit though.

Dear Dolf, there is chocolate in Seattle that is better than anything in Europe.

There's an option the careers officer at school never suggested to me.

You are welcome to send me piles of chocolate to test if you want to try to change my mind. I'm incredibly selfless in this regard. Better than anything in Europe though?

I know, right? Maybe you could call yourself an influencer and pester for freebies.

Probably in San Francisco as well.

"typical cocoa content 50%"

nuh

you want 70% for it to be called 'decent' - i've tasted both, and brit chocolate beats american easily, swiss being even better. american chocolate is very greasy, not the same texture and flavour at all. since you americans are used to shitty chocolate, then ghirardelli would seem the epitome. H's ma'am enjoys it.

here we go again. :)

You call that bland shit on which you spray something that looks and tastes like shit (gravy)
to make it edible,
good food?

American chocolate is awful. It's why every time I go to the states I end up taking about ten kilos of British chocolate for LTR.

Do we know where cocoa comes from and the near slavery involved?

Child slavery
Main articles: Children in cocoa production and Harkin–Engel Protocol

The first allegations that child slavery is used in cocoa production appeared in 1998.[27] In late 2000, a BBC documentary reported the use of enslaved children in the production of cocoa in West Africa.[27][28][29] Other media followed by reporting widespread child slavery and child trafficking in the production of cocoa.[30][31]

Child labour was growing in some West African countries in 2008-09 when it was estimated that 819,921 children worked on cocoa farms in Ivory Coast alone; by the year 2013-14, the number went up to 1,303,009. During the same period in Ghana, the estimated number of children working on cocoa farms was 957,398 children.[32]

There is a better small timer in bayshore that puts ghiradelli to shame.

Better than what I had in London, Zurich, Brussels, Lyon or Barcelona....well...Barcelona had a pretty nice shop.

Butters, running on ignorance as usual I see.

Only the dumbest knee-jerk Americans would claim our chocolate is better than chocolate in other countries!

Rory....ignorant and hater of the USA as usual.

Dear ignorant USA haters NEWSFLASH!!!: the candy bars we sell at our gas stations are not our premium chocolates.

What did you try in London? If it was Thornton's, all I can do is apologise. Overpriced, mass produced, and masquerading as real chocolatiers.

They put it in a can for fuck sake. Enough said.

And Yank chocolate tastes like vomit.

I would put Scharffen Berger up against anything in Europe. They’re a San Francisco company, despite the name.

The same is true of a vast array of products we consume.
Minerals, food, clothing... modern life is an ethical minefield.

I eat chocolate rarely (my body being a glorious temple, and all that jazz) and I look for the fair trade logo.

They were afraid you would strip and roll back your foreskin, thus they suggested occupations more in line with your intellectual capacity.

Perhaps that most "muricans' associate chocolate with MILK chocolate. REAL chocolate is dark, has a much better, rich taste, and anyway, is better for you.

Just sayin'....:)

Didn't Cadbury sell out to the American company, Hershey's? the government shouldn't have allowed that to happen.
