By averting the strike, New Yorkers won't have to open their own doors. ami had secretly tried to force the strike to study the political makeup of New Yorkers.

He was going to see what hand a New Yorker would use to open the door and thus determine if each person was an upstanding supporter of individual freedom and liberty (right hand) or a coward of the Intellectual Left, slave to Statist control, morally and ethically bankrupt having sold their soul to Marxism etc. ad naseum etc. (left hand).

You obviously do not understand the seriousness of this. You have to imagine yourself with shopping bags on one arm, a small dog cradled in the other, and high heels pinching your feet. Whether you're arriving at a store, restaurant or your own apartment building, you shouldn't have to try and open your own door while dealing with such burdens.

Frankly, I see a good little plot bunny in this. Woman shows true appreciation for her doorman...and finally gives him the tip he really deserves
