Dawg's Quotation Thread

Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life.

Leo Buscaglia

Attitude

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.
Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.

A few more from one of the best!

Happiness? A good cigar, a good meal, a good cigar and a good woman - or a bad woman;
it depends on how much happiness you can handle.

I honestly think it is better to be a failure at something you love than to be a success at something you hate.

I look to the future because that's where I'm going to spend the rest of my life.

I'm very pleased to be here. Let's face it, at my age I'm very pleased to be anywhere.

If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn't ask me, I'd still have to say it.

When I was young I was called a rugged individualist. When I was in my fifties I was considered eccentric.
Here I am doing and saying the same things I did then and I'm labeled senile.

George Burns

You may go over the world and you will find that every form of religion which has breathed upon this earth has degraded women. There is not one which has not made her subject to man.
- Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Only the really plain people know about love—the very fascinating ones try so hard to create an impression that they very soon exhaust their talents.

Can anything be stupider than that a man has the right to kill me because he lives on the other side of a river and his ruler has a quarrel with mine, though I have not quarrelled with him?

Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.

Maya Angelou

Music is often my refuge...

Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.

"Be kind to your enemies. Nothing annoys them so much." -Can't remember who said that one. Smart guy, though.

"For most of history...anonymous was a woman." -Virginia Woolf

"The concept of 2 people living together for 25 years without a serious dispute suggests a lack of spirit only to be admired in sheep." -Forgot this one too. Oops.
